<p>Which is the most highly recommended book for sample college essays?</p>

<p>What do the Cc'ers use in general ?</p>

<p>Also appreciate if you can suggest some good web resources to come up with a powerful essay.</p>

<p>Looking for something that would apply to US (common apps, individual college essays) and UK (ucas) as well</p>

<p>Read a few.
I liked a book from Harvard Press “essays that worked” because it provided samples and examples and critiques. But grabbing a few books is worth the investment.</p>

<p>I definitely agree on Bauld’s book. I unfortunately didn’t come across it until after I had submitted my applications, but it’s a GREAT book. The book is not boring or general and doesn’t constantly repeat stuff found in other books. It’s really insightful, and it’s actually pretty amusing at times. Unlike other “how to” books, it won’t put you sleep and is interesting to read. Definitely the best I’ve found.</p>
