The Sound and the Fury <- definitely one of the weirdest books I've ever read... I couldn't understand anything, but in the end it's really not too bad.

A Long Way Down by Nick Hornby.

Very well written and will make you see suicide from a whole new perspective.

I read Augusten Burroughs' memoir, Running with Scissors. It was both disturbing and hilarious. I'm reading Chuck Palahniuk's Choke right now, and the mother in this book reminds me of Burroughs'. Both good reads. But if you've never read any Palahniuk, start with Fight Club. It was a book first, but this is one of the few instances in which the book and movie really complement each other.
