So I'm taking AP English Literature (and 2 other AP courses) my upcoming senior year in high-school.

The summer assignment given to the students was: Read The Iliad: Books 1, 22, 24, and one of personal choice and write summaries about each.

After that, we must read another "literary" book of our choice approved by our teacher. I really have no clue of what book I should choose to read. Can you guys give me suggestions of great books for incoming seniors in AP Eng. Lit.?

I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

In my school, the AP Literature class reads Jane Eyre. I’ve read it, it’s really good.

[AP Literature: Titles from Free Response Questions since 1971](http://homepage.mac.com/mseffie/AP/APtitles.html)

Scroll to the bottom for a list of novels that appear most frequently.

We read the Fountainhead, Great Gatsby, and 1984 but I ended up using Catcher in the Rye for my essay. The books you read aren’t really that useful for the test. You could honestly use any book you read throughout high school and remember well enough on it.
