Book Supplement Essay

<p>"List the books you have read in the past year for school or leisure. Place an asterisk by those books required for classes you have taken."</p>

<p>Are you including (or do you suggest including) textbooks from school, magazines read, and *<strong><em>this is my main question</em></strong> embarrassing/easy reads?
My guess is probably not for any of them, but it's a fine line for the last one!?</p>

<p>Note: Davidson really wants to know about you as a person so if you feel those types of writing appeal to you go for it. Also I personally would list more than 40 just as rule of thumb.</p>

<p>thanks! i agree about them wanting to get to know you, which i love!
so include textbooks? and you didn’t do 40, or did you just post a sample of your list?</p>

Sorry about the late response but yes you can - and I personally encourage - you to but in that case just put specific chapters and pages to the side as people do not realistically read entire textbooks. Also I made a typo and meant to say no more than forty and that is my entire list. I hope you are applying ED I tonight.</p>

<p>pretty sure william shakespeare didn’t write scarlet letter…</p>

<p>Sorry, that was my first draft. It was suppose to be Nathaniel Hawthorne. </p>

This is only for the past year though right? Personally, I’m not much of a reader, but do people really read more than 10 books just for school? It would make sense if you were taking like 4 English classes, but I generally only have 4-5 books per year per class.

What does it mean by the last year? The last school year, the current school year, or the year 2015?

I would not include textbooks. I would include books you read for fun, even if they are standard light YA fare.

Yeah, I did not include a single textbook, just every novel I’ve read the past year (meaning one calendar year from the day I wrote that list)
