Do a lota girls carry bookbags? or just handbags like they do in highschool.
I want a laptop messenger bag and a bookbag...but I was thinking of getting the northface recon which is a bookbag with a laptop sleeve.

The problem is...its pretty bulky, and I duno if its "girly" enough. lol. Just a wonder.

Well, from a practical standpoint, unless people have wide gaps between classes and no textbooks, I think everyone carries some sort of backpack, nylon bag (the ones with the rope straps that functions essentially like a mini-backpack - I have no idea what these are called), or sometimes a large canvas bag with handles for girls. However, excepting two people who I sat directly next to in class and my roommate, I have absolutely no idea what kind of bags most people carried. I could be atypical, but while I’m usually very observant, I’ve never heard of a negative judgment being made based on backpack choice. The only thing I’ve heard are compliments for a bag that is particularly unique/stylish.

I’d say go for comfort and practicality, in my point of view, but then again, nobody would ever call me girly by any stretch of the imagination.

Most of all, I think you need to go outside, take a walk, and get your mind off of college. You are worrying way too much about the little details. You’ve made 18 threads in just the first three pages of this board. Chill a little! Everything is going to be okay. :)

I have a Northface backpack which is amazing and I plan on using daily, as I did last semester in NYC- it’s black and kind of large, but it holds and protects my laptop, plus books and water and anything else I might need. I also wish I had something a bit girlier but I went for function rather than fashion.

I generally will carry an over the shoulder tote bag with stuff in it. I usually will carry my notebooks for the different subjects, and my books if i need them. If I need my laptop I will bring my computer bag but that is it. A lot of my friends carry backpacks with their stuff in it so it really is what you are most comfortable with.

I used a backpack with a laptop sleeve last year, but I didn’t really bring my laptop to class EVER, so I rarely used that function anyway. This year I’m kind of tired of the backpack thing, and bought myself a cute vera bradley tote since I usually just carry notebooks, folders, pens… light weight stuff anyway. Whatever you think is most comfortable for you. Nobody is going to “make fun” of you for having a backpack that’s not “girly” enough. Quite frankly, nobody really cares in college, lol.
