Books and films that make you cry

I'm a sucker for crying over books and films. To give you an idea of the extent of this, here are some examples:
The Last Battle (final Narnia book) cried for the last half an hour reading it, then a further hour curled up on my bed. I had a connection with that world
Birdsong, it is an incredibly sad WW1 book, but I started crying a while before the sad bit happens, just because I knew it was coming up.
We'll Always Have Summer, just finished reading this, and I (no joke) was crying for over an hour while I finished it. The first book I've cried in where nobody dies and it isn't ending. I even did a weird fist pump thing at the end when she picks the right guy.
I have a really wierd emotional attachion with fictional characters.
With films, I was bawling in the Avengers (don't want to give any spoilers, but it was the bit near the end with the bridge) you even know it's all going to be fine then, partly because a second film had already been anounced.
I spent most of the Hunger Games crying too, even the bit with Crane at the end set me off.
I even cry when I hear certain songs, though generally only ones from soundtracks. Well, mainly just the Narnia soundtracks.

This has got rather long and rambly, I just wanted to know what media makes you cry the most, and whether I'm the only one that gets this attached to fictional characters. :')

Edit: I forgot to say, when I say Of Mice and Men at the theatre a few weeks ago, I was crying for ages. At least I wan't the only one then!

Old Yeller (book)

To be fair, I was maybe 10 when I read it. And I mean, c’mon, he shoots his dog!

Well, I’ve never cried from a book before, so films:
The Bridge to Terabithia
The Pianist
Roommates (FYI, not the recent movie about that psychopath roommate)
The Departed
Dead Man Walking
The Green Mile
The Boy in the Striped Pajamas
…I think that’s it.

Titanic (film) and A Night to Remember (book).

These are just ones I remember. There could be more, but obviously it’s only important if I remember it.

Books:
Everything is Illuminated by Johnathan Safran Foer.
The Road by Cormac MacCarthy
All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque
The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini
Night by Elie Wiesel

Films:
*Marley and Me/i
Schindler’s List
Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee
The Lion King - This is when I was a kid, but still, very sad.
Toy Story 3 - I’ll admit I started to tear up a bit. Don’t judge me, I waited 10 years for that ending!
The Pursuit of Happyness

Plays (because I’m a theatre nerd):
*Cabaret/i
The Laramie Project
Rabbit Hole
Proof
Doubt: A Parable
The Diviners
I cried at the end of Into the Woods, but only because it was going to be my last show at my high school.

All Quiet On the Western Front and Dead Man Walking both made me cry too. The former much more though

I am notorious for being emotionally empty, so the only film that has made me tear up was Cast Away (I think we all know what part I’m talking about).

Honorable mention for Grave of the Fireflies. I didn’t cry…I just felt empty.

I haven’t ever cried from media but…Yesterday I watched Titanic for the first time (I know) and got pretty sad at the end but didnt cry. The only book that really made me sad was Mockingjay. I came so close to crying but didnt. The part at the end with the song and her kids…;(

Heart of a Champion by Carl Deuker.

When I first saw the animated Tarzan movie I cried lol. I mean c’mon, Kerchan accepts Tarzan but dies!!

A Separate Peace made me tear up when Finny died.

Songs? I cry whenever I listen to Alone in December by Underoath. It’s a ten year old song written by their former frontman. It’s about how he was driving the car when he got into an accident and his fianc

The Kite Runner book made me cry!

And I was a total sobbing baby during UP, I admit it. Such a beautiful movie. Still get all choked up while watching it… Even the 30th time :P

that part in UP when he goes through the “Stuff I’m Going To Do” :’)

Toy Story 3.

Of Mice and Men, and The Boy in the Stripped Pajamas.

The only book I’ve ever cried over was My Sister’s Keeper. The ending is just so sad :(. I almost cried after I read The Fault in Our Stars (which is also about cancer), but I managed not to hahaha ;D.

I cried when Snape died.

Oh, that reminds me about a play called What’s Left of Us, which is about a girl with cancer and her family. I lost it when I saw that one.

-The Book Thief: My favorite character died >.> (Spoilers, if you haven’t read it yet) Rudy!!! Others die, too.
-The Outsiders: (Spoiler) The deaths of Johnny and Dallas made me cry.
-My Brother Sam is Dead has made me cry as well, I think. I forget.
-The Scarlet Ibis, a short story, ahhhhh. I couldn’t stop crying towards the end. If the older brother hadn’t been so selfish, and just waited for his younger brother, Doodle! Ohmygawdddd, (spoiler) Doodle wouldn’t have died that way. Dangit. Okay, sorry.

Overall, stories that make me tear up are usually the ones that involve the death of a character. Most of the time it’s my favorite character, other times it’s not. Still :</p>

Hrm, lots of movies make me cry, too.

Okay okay, I’m just a big baby cry when it comes to books & movies, lol. I’d say I cry for whatever reason for almost all of the books and movies I’ve read/watched.

I don’t think there’s any song that has made me cry.

The movie Sophie’s choice, where Meryl Streep is in a concentration camp, and is ordered by the commanding officer of the camp to give up one of her two kids she is holding.

oh, and Atonement. And I always used to cry at the opening of The Prince of Egypt. When Moses’ mom is singing and putting him in the basket.

Is that the one where Ash is on that one island and then he gets hit by Mewtwo and then everybody starts crying including Pikachu? Dude I totally started bawling when that movie first came out. :(
