hey guys…ok i need some help…im really confused about how we’re supposed to get our books. Do we have to get them through the Barnes and Nobles affiliated with BU or can we search for cheaper prices on our books? I was looking at “buy books” under my current schedule and they only have books listed for 3 of my classes.

I’m taking
BI 107
PS 101
WR 100
CH 101

They dont have any books listed for my chem class yet. Does anyone know what books i’ll need? And when are we supposed to start buying books?

Thanks for all the help!! I’m just really confused about all of this!

quick question... since I will not be going to the campus until September 1, how do I find out what books to buy? I would like to make my purchases online now so I can get a head start on the upcoming semester. I have already registered for classes... but where can I find a list of the books I am supposed to buy? Have the books selections even been determined by the professors yet?

Go to the studentlink and look at your current schedule.

Click on "buy books"

That will give you the titles for most of them. Then, email the professors (try using the BU directory, which you can access from the main page) for edition numbers and ask about any required supplements (workbooks, CDs, etc.).

OR

You can wait until September 1st and stand in the long line at Barnes and Noble.

thanks :D ... I ordered my books :D:D! I had no idea we had to read this much, though... they made me purchase 25 books for 4 classes :S... and they weren't small readings either; the majority were large texts (fortunately, I've read many of them, so that should save some time)

ok...so from the B&N in Boston my books come to a total of $585!!! thatz a whole lot...i'm afraid to buy them from other sites cuz BU doesnt provide us with the ISBN #s of these books...i dont want to get the wrong volumes/editions...but i need to lower the cost of my books.

That's not an unusual amount...general rule of thumb is $100/class, but some (writing classes and natural sciences, in particular) can be more expensive.

If there are literature books for writing courses, you can probably safely buy those elsewhere without worrying too much about editions (though I would email your prof to make sure s/he doesn't require a specific translation or edition).

Otherwise, all you can do is email professors and ask if they require a specific edition or supplements (CDs, etc.). If they don't, you can probably get last year's version used for cheap. If not, or if your course uses a customized text (made specifically for BU), you don't have much of a choice.
