BOOKS, BOOKS, BOOKS (need some?)

Can I use SAT books to study for the ACT?

I was going to take the SAT, but I'm thinking that the ACT will be a better fit for me. I was wondering if I could use the following books to study for the ACT (along with the official ACT book):

Barron's SAT 2400
Grubers New SAT
Collegeboard Official SAT Study Guide
PR's 11 practice SATs

If I study and have everything in the official ACT study guide, do you think I can get a 34+?

Also, I have Barron's AP Lit and Composition book and Barron's Critical Reading workbook. Can I use those to study for the SAT Subject test in Literature?

I, also, have a AP Stats book I don't need. I got it, but I've decided not to take the test. If you're interested, PM me, and (given that you live in the US and within a reasonable distance) I will give it to you.

The ACT and SAT are totally different tests. The SAT focuses on tricky wording and more "IQ test" type questions whereas the ACT is a straight-up achievement test.

So if you want to do well on the ACT then, well, buy some ACT books! The official ACT guide is only good for the practice tests...you'll want a separate review text. I reccomend Barron's.

Curious: Why have you decided not to take the SAT? If you study those books and you're dedicated, you should do well on it.

I decided to switch because the ACT was more straightforward. I took a practice ACT exam and did much better than the SAT. I know the material, but I don't know the tricks.

Great. I guess I will get the ACT books. Do you know anywhere I can sell my SAT books? I have so many. Haha. They are all in perfect condition, never been written in (actually, I haven't read most of them), and they are all from recent years. I bought them new, so (the 6 I have - too much, I know) cost like 80 dollars.

I hate wasting money >_>

ebay? or better yet, ask around at your school. if you can discount the original price at all, i bet you'd find some takers.

Good idea. Thanks. I'll try my school. :]
