Hey, how do I find out what books I need for my classes? I searched everywhere on the site. Has the information not been released yet? Also, do I have to do the freshman summer reading? I just found out about it today.

Join the NYU2016 Facebook page, it’ll keep you up to date on everything.

To find books, go to the NYU Bookstore site and click the “find books” link. Depending on your school, there is mandatory summer reading with a mandatory writing assignment.

Well, I’m going to CAS, and I haven’t heard anything about reading or a writing assignment.

Yeah there is definitely a reading assignment for CAS cause everyone’s talking about it. It’s on “Tiger’s Wife” I believe.

But do I have to write anything? Will I actually be graded/questioned on the summer reading?

From what I have seen on Facebook, yes. Why don’t you go on Facebook and find out for yourself?

I’m going to be blunt, you’re going into college. It’s time for you to find these things on your own and not depend on others to find answers for you.

Why should I have to find out about this stuff through Facebook? That’s ridiculous. I don’t use Facebook. Maybe they should actually email all of the students. That’s seems more rational.

I agree with WednesdayTomato. I don’t use Facebook, but I check my email several times a day, thinking that if it’s that important they’d tell me directly instead of leaving me to HAVE to go through others for information. I’ve just yesterday received an email about the summer reading:

“Finally, our New Student Reading this summer is The Tiger’s Wife by Tea Obreht. You will receive information about the summer reading program and a copy of the book at the conclusion of your Orientation session.”

Well, fine, then. But I don’t think it’s right that if I hadn’t known before this email, I would’ve had a week before class starts to read this book and wished they told me sooner instead of leaving me to Facebook and CC to find out.

I don’t mean to sound like I have an attitude, but this whole summer I’ve been stressing out over official information like this that i hadn’t received but everyone else had. I don’t think that makes me an inadequate college student.

lol @ people who are your age lecturing you about your responsibilities as a rising college student.

I still haven’t received an email. Is there actually a writing assignment along with the reading? I’m so lost. Can’t somebody just please give me a clear answer on what I need to do? I’m entering CAS, if that means anything.

Here it is:
