books for sat reasoning and subject test

hello everyone.. i am a class 12 student..i plan to appear for sat subject tests in may and sat reasoning test in june this year..here are the books i am going to refer
SAT reasoning- 1)the official sat study guide
2) sat 2400 by barron's
SAT subject test :-
math level 2- barron's
physics- barron's
i will also solve the sat subject test book by college board

do you think my choice is okay..should i go for barron's or PR,kaplans etc..
my concepts in physics are a bit weak and i need a book that can help me clear them.. will baroon's serve the purpose?

i am applying at the following universities-
1) CSULB
2) SFSU
3) SJSU

the books you plan to use are great and enough to get a good score on the SAT. if you do want to use more books, go for kaplan besides the ones you are already planning to use

should i go for princeton review physics or barron’s? i searched on the internet and i got mixed reviews…moreover can i appear for sat 2s before sat reasoning or its fine to take them before the reasoning test ?

don’t worry much about the sender physics and maths level 2 . you can appear and score well , if your concepts are OK.

oops , I meant sat physics ! freaking auto correct

I would recommend Barron’s books. Princeton Review is often unnecessarily verbose.

for sat reasoning get the blue book and the test masters solutions and explanations for the 10 tests in the blue book and look for all released tests you can find

sat 2 is pretty stupid so any book from Barrons would do

please recommend a good book for ACT!

i know of only the Red Book.

I don’t have the red book currently, I have only the Barron’s ACT 36 : Aiming for the perfect score

This is what my sister uses for the ACT-

  1. Princeton review ACT (It’s a realistic book, the questions given are on par with the original ACT questions, you’ll get an idea of what you are going to face in the test)
  2. Don’t read red book for strategies, do papers from the red book. They are helpful.
  3. If you want to solve problems- try Princeton review 1296 questions ( I’m not sure if it’s 1296 or not) but yeah this book is helpful.
  4. For strategies- go with Barron’s ACT 36.
  5. Don’t solve those Barron’s papers- they are considered to be very very hard and papers are gonna demoralize you you and lower down your confidence level.
  6. Solve papers and keep a watch by side so that you can complete a section within the time limit ( especially for science and reading, people generally go out of time in these two sections).
    For SAT-
  7. Blue book- it’s obvious.
  8. For word lists go with Barron’s but yeah keep in mind that you need almost 2 months to complete that word list.
  9. Princeton review papers and strategies are good as well.
  10. Try Barron’s SAT 2400 for strategies and a shorter word list if you want.
  11. Solve papers and yes lot of papers
    For Subject tests
    Maths and Chemistry- Barron’s
    Physics - Princeton review.
Solve papers and try to complete the papers within the time limit because that’s what you are going to do in the exam hall.
    Hope this was helpful.

@mak1702 @hezekiel I really hope my response was helpful

@halamadrid9 thanks really dude… will your sister also apply to the class of 2019?

Here’s what I used (current score 1st sitting - 2340)

@mak1702 Yes. For the class of 2019. She’s taking a drop year to apply to some unis in US.

wow, cool you both bro-sis competiting for same seats.

@mak1702 Lol! I want to go to UK not US  She gave ACT on 14th Dec. 2013 and got a 34. She only scored 63% in her 11th grade. The reason she took an year out was just because she wanted to show adcoms how well she can do in boards. I saw this thread and asked her for some suggestions lol.

@halamadrid9 this also shows that 11th sucks…!!! mine toooo

Adcoms know this anyway

anyways according to WES more than 60% is a 4.0
