Books?

Are you guys ordering your books online or waiting till you get to campus?

P3T, any suggestions?

Where can you find out what textbooks to use before you arrive on campus?

Go to WebAdvisor. Under "Registration" it says "buy my textbooks". I tried it today and the site was "temporarily unavailable" so we'll have to see if it comes back up soon.

I had tried that and got the same answer. Hopefully, they will list the SKU for each text so that you can order on-line. If not, there is a concern that you might be ordering the wrong edition.

My son and I went to one of the Welcome Receptions for Chapman this weekend. I asked one of the orientation leaders there about the fact that the webadvisor had the textbook information temporarily unavailable.

She told my son to go to efollett.com. Type in Chapman, and you can check each individual class list of books there.

You need the section number as well as the course number. It is easy to see it - if you are in English 104 it would come up as Eng 104-02 (if you are in the second section). Just view your class schedule on webadvisor and make sure you input that.

You might also want to check half.com, ebay and amazon, she said. I looked today and a few of the pricier ones had some copies much cheaper. Make sure if the prof wants the book with the 2 cds and webaccess, and the 7th edition, that those are the ones you are looking for. You don't want to spend a bunch of money on the wrong edition of the book!

Good luck!

Thanks so much; I just ordered 2 books at a considerable savings!

I'm going to a welcome reception tomorrow. Can I ask how the women were dressed?

Timely,

Very casual. Kids wearing typical going to school type clothes, moms and dads ran the gamut between dressy and casual. It was not a formal event. The one we went to was held at this amazing home, and we were outside the whole time during the event. Snacks and drinks, a few little goodies for the kids who attended. Well worth it.

There were probably 20 kid orientation leaders, about three staff members and they asked each kid to come up to the microphone and introduce themselves - name, where are they from, future major, housing assignment.

Make sure you ask questions. That is why they hold these receptions. It is a major icebreaker (like facebook), and also nice to see the kids that represent Chapman.

Timely,

Did I just lose a bid on ebay to you? I just lost a bid for a FTV book to a member named Timely2000. How ironic, if it is true!

LOL! It was me! That's what you get for telling me how to find out about the books!

OK, that is just too funny.

I am so checking with you the next time I bid...

No hard feelings. It is nice to save some cash, especially now!
