Bookstore now has Fall 2006 textbooks listed

You can go to http://www.efollett.com find the Florida State main campus bookstore and look up textbooks required for Fall 2006 classes now. You will need to know the course number and section to make sure you are ordering the correct book(s). You can request to pick up your books when you arrive after 8/19 or you can have them shipped to you.

They do not give you the ISBN number so it may be difficult to comparison shop for some of the books at http://www.isbn.nu or http://www.cheapesttextbooks.com. They do give you the title, author and edition and say (P) if it is paperback.

Great job, cybermom!

I have been wondering about this. Thank you for providing the information.

One can also simply take your schedule and shop the University Bookstore and Bill's Bookstore in person. The books will be piled up everywhere with notes indicating what class and maybe even section they are for. This is usually how it is done.

A caveat - sometimes a book is ordered for a certain class and the bookstores order it accordingly. You then attend the first day of class and the professor says 'Naw...don't buy the book. You won't need it'. Of course, wanting to be one jump ahead, you've already bought the book and are now out $50+. Sometimes, you just never know. Usually, the bookstore will take the book back - assuming it's still in new condition.

Also - sometimes the professor will order the book at Bill's Bookstore, but not the University Bookstore or vice versa. Accordingly, a necessary workbook may be at one but not the other as well. Unless you even know the workbook exists, they may sell out before you get there, and have to order more. Make sure you check both stores and know for sure before buying.

Check any announcements on Blackboard (early), too. Professors will assign work even before the first day of class.

None of my classes except accounting (ACG2021) even has a blackboard page up, and I'm not yet able to access that one. It is still marked as "Enrollment Pending."

I'm pretty sure I'll need a calculus book, and they use the same book for Calc I, Calc II, and Calc III, so I think I'm going to go ahead and buy that book. I'm not sure about buying the other ones yet. I think I might wait.

Do you think my professors would mind if I emailed them about books? Some of their names are listed on the course lookup page, and I can find their email addresses.

I'd suggest waiting for now - until you actually get to campus. No reason to pay shipping charges ( assuming you don't live near FSU). You have time yet.

I'm not going to buy the book from the bookstore...

I can get it for a lot cheaper than their listed price, even their listed used book prices.

How are you going to buy them?

No, I don't think the professors will mind an email. Much of the communication is by email, if you don't catch them in person.

Online bookstores -- Amazon probably. My mom is looking around.

Smart, but be sure you get the right book - correct edition and so on. If the professors will email and tell you all this, it sounds golden.
