Boot Experiences

I know that practically everybody’s tired of hearing about boots, but I just wanted to know how everyone’s are fitting.

Personally, I think mine fit great… but I still have doubts. My parents seem to think that they are little too big, but I think it’s because they’ve never really seen combat boots before. But yeah please post here with your boot experiences and how they are fitting because I’m really confused lol.

Yeah mine LOOK big, but after they are boots... as far as fit go, they're pretty snug but not overly tight. If they feel loose just a bit thats ok because the boot socks are really thick. Mine felt a little loose and I got a pair of the socks and they fit perfectly.

I ran a mile in mine today . . . no blisters or anything and they felt fine, but they were really heavy. Made running much harder.

Which boots did U get Z-Man? Bates or Bellevilles. U got wear em when I make U run the ridge.

If any of you Zoomies want some more advice on boots, check out the USMA thread. We actually wear them. Just kidding, but really there's some more talk if you have any questions.

The issued Bates look much bigger. Since they have a square toe vs. a tapered toe they look like clown shoes lol. If you suspect they are too big, you will also be issued nylon socks in addition to boot socks here so you can double up if necessary, I know that helped me with mine when I doubled up.

Yeah my Bates do look like clown shoes, and the fact that they are 13.5 doesn't help! lol But I guess they just feel real bulky and what not because I've never really worn boots... so I guess I'm really gonna have to work hard to break them in.

Thanks for the advice!

mark49, you think 13.5 are big? I've got 14's, and they're huge. And they're not even the same type as the ones everyone else mentioned; mine are Welco boots. They fit really well, though. I like my boots more than my tennis shoes, now. Running is the exception, though. Each boot weighs about 3 pounds, and I can feel the extra weight when I run.

Wow... size 14 boots? that's crazy lol.Yeah I wore mine all weekend they seem to fit better now. I'm breaking them in pretty good though... hopefully they'll be perfect for basic

No kidding about them being heavy when you run . . . I usually run about 3 - 6 miles a day, and I ran 2 miles in my boots yesterday and I am feeling it.

U guys are telling me just what I'm expecting to hear when I start working in mine. Anyways, do any or yours feel a bit long?? Mine feel good on the sides but my front I'm i little worried about, my toes barely make it to the steel toes. I think they might be big, but iono. I'm horrible at buying new shoes and try to avoid it as much as possible just for this reason.Any of you cadets got and advice similar experience?O I am wearing the bootsocks so..maybe stuff a extra pair up there?

From what I have heard there is supposed to be some amount of room at the front of the boot. I doubt you want your toes to be rubbing the edge all day... :)
Both pairs of mine are a little bit roomy up front but good and snug everywhere else.

Long is fine really. The width is important. Unless of course your heel won't stay down.

Yeah I feel the same way that cdk does... but I just ran in them today and each day they get more comfortable. I'm guessing it's just something I gotta get used too.

I know mine seem to be getting looser as a run . . . but also more comfertable

steel toe?

They are still issuing the same style as '10, aren't they? I don't have a steel toe.

Should we get separate insoles? I was thinking of going to my podiatrist or w/e he's called and getting those mage insoles where they custom make it to the imprint of your foot. A bunch of people on my track team have them and they say it's really good. Or I might just Dr. Scholl it. But is it totally unnecessary? Because my host said that her insoles really helped but others said the original insoles are fine. So I don't know...yeah, I'm a blisterer so it's a big deal, lol.

All I know is that I tried on about 5 pairs until I got a good fit. I ended up going with 12.5 wide. My host said to make sure you get some good insoles because it really helps out.

i used dr scholls on mine, and it worked out great. i had no problem with boots

insoles are a good thing, most people will recommend them here. I got dr. scholl's gel. I was gellin' all of BCT. :)
