Pretty bored right now so I figured I would make my first chance thread of the new school year, no real point to this, probably a subconcious desire to be assured that I might just get in but anyways, do I seem competitve or on the fringe. I am applying ED to Wharton.

Interned at a Wealth management firm this summer, pretty interesting stuff

there’s no point to this…

ok, well lets make a point, considering the above, is it imperative that i retake the 760 I got in Math IIC, I don’t know if it is worth the effort at this point, I mean I know a 760 isn’t great for math IIC, but I have gotten A’s in all the math classes i have ever taken and am currently in second year college calculus, so should that make up for one test score.

i don’t think it’s worth it for you to retake Math II

No, you don’t have to retake it. Having an 800 instead of a 760 will not make or break your application. However, if you think you can get the 800 and are willing to spend a Saturday morning taking a test, then go for it.

@sd6, haha its that kind of comment that creates all the turmoil for me, I know I made careless mistakes when I took the test back in June so I think I can raise my score, but its the preparing for the test that I don’t really have time for. In the end, I will probably retake it just to maybe make my application ever so much stronger.

@TheWikiMan: I wouldn’t worry about retaking it, to be honest. You’ve done all that you can do; just send in your application and let UPenn do their thing.

However, I would suggest going out and getting yourself laid! It’s gotta be damn near impossible with all that volunteering you’ve been doing! Enjoy yourself. Haha

@ livingston

hahaha, that actually made me laugh, lets just say that college is where I plan on engaging in those activities, so for now I will concentrate on getting into college.

^ Good plan man! I only meant is a joke; glad you got a chuckle out of it.

I’m applying as a transfer to Wharton myself. Good luck (to the both of us)!

Retake Math2c if you want to submit as close to a flawless app as possible.

As your stats stand now, I’d say you have an above-average shot at getting into Wharton early. Good luck! :)

yeah, some days I feel like I have a good chance at getting in and other days I think back to those results threads I have read and can’t even imagine being accepted. Is there anything “weak” about my application. I feel like my essays are solid and I have a little ace up my sleeve with them. My teacher recs should be decent.

^ An overwhelming majority of those who apply to Wharton have flawless stats. Every year Wharton rejects applicants with perfect SAT’s and the like, so it is going to come down to your essays.

I would forget about retaking your SAT II and work on your essays. In my opinion, Wharton isn’t going to give a crap if you score 20 or 30 points higher.

shameless bump, at this point is there anything specific that might hold me back, or am I at the point where the mood of the admissions officer on the day he reads my essay determines whether I get accepted or rejected.

Improve your essays… listen man…

I think I have those under control, the only reason I am slightly optimistic is my interests in art, debate, and business, which I feel is probably somewhat unique to wharton.

^haha, you are joking, right?

are you trying to say that those things I listed are not reasons for optimism, or that I have more reasons to be optimistic. The internet really muddles meaning. Regardless, I do hope that the art supplement I send has some kind of impact.

The arts supplement may help, but a passion for debate and business is very common among Wharton applicants…

well yeah, of course, but I guess I was thinking more in terms of the combination of an arts supplement and debate awards, maybe I am naive but I think that is something that is not too common.
