Hi. BC is one school that I had not discussed intially with my son as a choice for him to apply in the fall ( for business ). We were thinking more in terms of UVa, Georgetown, Cornell, GW,etc… Is the business program up at BC one that is found to be enjoyable and worthwhile ? My son has decent stats, 4.5(w), 1450/2230, 15 of 575, good Ecs… I was also wondering if BC offers any type of merit schol. $$ aid ( since I doubt we will qualify for any financ. aid ) ? Thanks. Best of luck to all. Marc

i will be attending BC in the fall and will be in the carroll school of management. they are ranked 14th in undergrad business and the school seems to be very good. obviously cornell and georgetown are also very pretigious. i would consider BC over GW. i also applied to GW and got in, but BC was my top choice.

Where is BC ranked 14th. It's only 24th or 27th or something in US News. :(

Business Week's ranking of the top undergraduate business programs puts CSOM at 14th nationally, 2nd in Mass (only behind the Sloan School at MIT).

I applied to UMICH and got in. However, because of financial reasons I chose BC and am very happy with my choice. Rankings are not the only thing that matter, especially in business. In business, networking is very very important. BC, gives you a humongous alumni network in one of the biggest business cities in the world, Boston!

recently, 3 BC graduates became fund managers at top companies and they are all under the age of 30 making 7 digit figure income.

@tushar: You're right on the money. The alumni network really is one of BC's greatest assets. My dad has a number of clients that are BC grads, and they all say that resumes with BC on them find their way to the top of the pile. Also, when they found out that I was looking at going to BC, they all went nuts, asking if there was any way they could help out with the admissions process, and telling me all the countless reasons why I should pick BC.

Once an Eagle, always an Eagle. Once you're in the door, you're part of the club.

BC doesn't really do merit aid, so I don't think you'll have any luck there.

I got to concur with tushar and acer. I remember volunteering for this real estate firm back in senior year high school; the top manager, who is also a BC alumnus, there asked me where I was applying to college and I casually replied BC was my top choice, and he went nut. He asked what he could do to help my chance, he said he would call them if I need him too; apparently, he was a big time donor. He told me that he is always on the look out for BC applicants, they always get extra consideration. Plus, he would always call the school and professors to ask about this person credetial or ask for promising recruit.

Yeah, that is a good point. Rankings are probably completely oblivious to a network, though it would be kind of hard to track.

My dream path would be BC w/$cholarship, then west-coast for Grad. I wonder if BC has any alums all the way in California.
