Hi! I didn’t see a thread yet for Boston College Class of 2024! Feel free to share if you applied, if you want to share your stats, etc, outcome, etc. Scary but exciting time!
D20 applied ED to MCAS. She received an email that decisions will be sent during the week of Dec 1, which is earlier than it has been in the last couple of years. I am assuming that this is due to the decrease in early applications resulting from the move to ED from EA. Good luck to all!!

@Anastasiabh, You have really SOLID standardized test scores. What is your unweighted GPA? Don’t count yourself out, yet.

@“jm.fallon”
Great profile and ecs. You are a very strong candidate at a multitude of great schools.
No one knows your chances.
Facts to shape expectations are good for all students and parents.
BC expresses that it really focuses on rigor, gpa and relative quality. 3.85 uw type of grades are the norm and 80 percent are in the top ten percent of their class with most rigorous path the school offers.
Your scores are solid as well. Perhaps that and your character will carry the day.
See above.
You have academic stats that appear to be exactly what they appear to look for and your scores are great as well. These are more at the “average” of admitted scores than your other components.
Imho it is perhaps a tad lower than the average unhooked applicant coming from an over represented portion of the applicant pool. However it seems that being first gen will be helpful too.
No one knows but my gut, assuming a well written application and supporting recommendations. would lead to an offer.
Did anybody else receive the package in the mail today? I applied to MCAS, and only know of one other person who got the same thing from BC. Let me know if you received this also.
@HSsenior1596 What was in the package if you don’t mind me asking?
Chance me!

Applied ED to CSOM

@college6655 I think you have a very good shot. Good luck and let us know the results.
Thank you! Will do!

@ 2020 Hopefulgirl, Congrats on your solid stats. IMHO, you have a 75% of getting accepted. Good luck.
Thanks so much!
My D20 applied ED. Can you chance her?
- Major: Political Science
- SAT: 1460 (Math 730 Verbal 730)
- GPA: unweighted GPA 4.0, weighted is 4.25
- High School: public school in Northern Cal that is highly ranked
- APs: 1 during soph yr, 3 during jr yr, 4 currently (all 5s on AP tests)
- ECs: average quantity/quality
- Essays: high quality (writing is her top talent)
I think she is a very competitive candidate. @bbfan1927 can tell you first hand how challenging it can be and surprising results can occur.
I’ve posted the admitted ranges before but there’s never been an Ed round. They assume 3000 applicants and perhaps 40 percent acceptance.
That’s 1200 yes and 1800 no.
I’m sure the other 1800 candidates are pretty solid as well. That’s how I look at it overall.
I don’t like to give percentages or false expectations. Students with your daughters score are the exact type of student they appear to be looking for imho. But it doesn’t always work out and I can’t tell you why.
Class of 2023 middle 50 percent per the school
33 to 35 act 1420 to 1530 SAT
Enrolled class. 80 percent in top ten percent of class. 3.8 to 4.0 UW gpa average. Per the “meet the class numbers”.
My guess is a 4.0 top of the class student with a great 1420 sat and a talented writer ED 1 would be at worse- deferred.
Good luck and let us know when they tell her she’s in! They usually have a cool video for acceptances. Google the one from 2018. It was a Harry Potter theme and will make you want to go too!
The website says they’re hoping to accept 40% of the class from both ED 1 and 2, so 920 total ED admits.
