Boston College EA what are my chances? Do I have a chance? Please chance me!

I am an Asian male in a very competitive public
highschool.

Weighted GPA: 3.51 (our school doesn’t report unweighted)

ACT: 32 (35-Reading 34 English 29 Math 30 Science 8-essay)

EC’s:
4 years of lacrosse (our team is nationally ranked)
Tons of community service hours through volunteering at a church and traveling abroad.
2 summers of interning at a law firm.
1 year of wrestling.
Tri-M national music honors society.
Orchestra.
4 years Key Club member.
4 years Stock market club member.
4 years FBLA member

What are my chances??? Boston College is my top choice and I really hope to get in!

would not advise EA.

I’m guessing that your GPA is not close to top decile, and since ~85% of all matriculants to BC are in the top 10% of their HS class, you will be at a disadvantage. Better to earn all A’s this semester and apply RD.

Your Math score is also low for BC, and sticks out. I’d recommend a retake.

You say BC is your “top choice”. Why? What do you bring to the campus. (no need to answer here, but think about your essay.)

Good luck.

@bluebayou would I not be deferred to the regular decision pool regardless? If they don’t think I qualify for EA.

not necessarily. BC rejects plenty of applicants in EA. (It used be a third accepted, a third rejected, and a third rolled into RD.)

My recommendation is to apply when you have the strongest application that you can submit. And if that requires another semester of A’s, so be it.

Apply EA. Fewer applicants and your admission counselor will know the competitiveness of your high school. Go for it! Good luck

hey y’all if anyone could chance me that would be great! I am applying to BC EA for class of 2021
I am a white American female, although I am going to school in the UK
4.4 GPA
29 Composite ACT (32 English, 31 Math, 27 Reading and 25 Science)

  • I am retaking the ACT on Saturday for a higher score
I am doing the full IB diploma, I’m applying from an international school in London (don’t know if that means anything for admissions)
  • I won’t be sending my IB scores because they don’t come out until July
    EC’s:
  • theatre (lead-roles in every school production since freshman year)
  • varsity softball for all four years of high school
  • editor-in-chief of the school newspaper
  • travelled to Namibia (southern Africa) for a service project, fundraised for this for all of junior year
  • national honors society

Working on my BC supplement now but I think it will be pretty strong.

I am also a legacy - both of my parents and my uncle went to Boston College, although I don’t know if legacy really matters for BC

BC is my top choice, any thoughts?
