Hey guys! I am starting a deferrals thread to see what you guys were thinking about getting deferred? I myself for deferred. but if I was being honest, I knew I did not really have a chance to get in through early action. I guess I am just glad they didn’t completely reject me. My stats were no where near competitive. I did not even crack the 1300s for the SAT. What were your stats? How are you guys feeling? Hopefully a lot of us in the deferrals will get in!
We sound pretty similar
I was also deferred, 4.25 W gpa and 34 ACT. I’m glad I wasn’t rejected but it just sucks to have to wait until March
Does anyone know the percentage of how many deferrals get accepted?
I was deferred, 1350 SAT, 4.3 W gpa, good ECs, first gen latina, pretty good essay tbh
yh i was also deferred:/ 4.84 weighted gpa, 1450 sat, and idk my commonapp was alright and my supplement was ard too but idk i’m hopeful but at the same time, scared. i applies to lynch school of education
I applied CSOM. 30 superstore act. 3.93 WGPA 3.37 UWGPA. I thought my common app was pretty strong along with my supplemental and resume. It seems like my counselor wrote a strong recommendation and I submitted 3 others, 2 great teachers and teacher/mentor. Have really great extracurriculars and in IB
Do you guys know when we’ll hear back with our final decisions?
I got deferred for nursing btw!
D also deferred for nursing
Better than a rejection, as there’s still hope
Deferred for CSOM. 1460 SAT, 33 ACT, 93 Unweighted ,101 Weighted GPA. 4 APs. Extracurriculars relatively strong. I’m hoping that I’m a good candidate for Regular Decision, as this is my top school, but now I don’t really know what my chances are
From a 2016 BC article:
“Mahoney also believes that 25 percent of deferred applicants will gain admission in the regular decision pool.”
I do not know how relevant hat number is as things change every year.
There were over 10,000 applications this year for EA. They accepted 3,200 and deferred around 4000.
my D also got deferred for nursing. Does anyone know how many students they accept into their nursing program?
@ursula51
Not sure but those programs usually are around 100 students.
Yes, that was my understanding too. Wonder how many nursing applicants were deferred.
@ursula51 Actually I will not be surprised if most of the nursing students were deferred. With such a small department they probably want to see the whole applicant pool to make sure they make up the class that they wish.
@ursula51 yes, going through the forums it does seem that many of the deferrals are nurses. I agree with the above post that since it is such a small program, they likely want to see the entire pool before making more decisions. However, that’s just my observation. Looks like we’ll be playing the waiting game for a while longer!
Deferred with 3.7 UW, 4.0 W and a 1410 SAT to MCAS. I was extremely upset when I first got my decision because Boston College is one of my top choice schools. I knew that I wasn’t necessarily competitive for Early Action but now I’m just extremely stressed. I haven’t been able to find any information about deferral acceptance rates in recent years, anyone have any idea about those numbers?
I was deferred arts and sciences w a 32 act 4.51 w gpa plenty of ec’s and strong supplements. are any of you resubmitting any essays?
