Boston College Early Action 2022 Thread

@sbe2934 I am a finalist too! I’m a little nervous about the interviewing process, do you have any idea what it’ll be like that weekend?

Congratulations! What kind of mail did you receive? Via UPS? Or other?

Congratulations! Did you receive it from up?

Can I ask what mail? uPS?

Did the folder come from UPS? Thanks!

@tcf1600 Wow… I am surprised based on your stats!

@sbe2934 @skico2018 @BCGPSP @Musicgirl134

I am a finalist too! Man I had to dig through this thread to find all the scholarship finalists.

I was wondering if you guys wanted to make a group chat or something. I am pretty nervous and I’m sure connecting with others in the same position will help relieve some stress. :slight_smile:

Also, for everyone curious, the Gabelli Scholarship Folder came in the same envelope as the physical acceptance letter.

Post your stats

@GibbsFreeEnergy

34 ACT, 3.9 UW GPA, 4.64 W GPA, took 5 APs up until junior year and scored 5s and 4s on all of them, and I am taking 6 APs this year. ECs and essays were good (I think).

@shkodra14 those are great stats…just wondering though, anything unique or any hooks? There are lots of kids with similar stats, but there must be something very special about you that they picked up on.

@collegemomjam

Can’t really tell what it was that got me selected. My essays (both common app and BC supplement) were about related topics regarding my desire to make social change. My ECs demonstrate my passion for change as well. I guess I painted a very organized picture of myself and if you look at my application you can get a really solid idea of who I am and what I value. All the components of my application were related to one another and connected to my goals.

I also showed how connected I am to my culture/country/people (my family isn’t American) and this tied in to my goals/passions as well. Maybe they like that diversity factor, who knows.

Does anybody know the process for notifying students of their financial aid award? Is an email generated when the information is available. I hate to keep going back to the website referenced in the acceptance letter with ridiculous frequency only to see no update. Also, does anybody have experience with the portion of aid that is grant vs loan at BC? So wish that my daughter did not need to temper her excitement until we see the actual aid package.

@mtlcanadiens11 sounds like you have a great application!

As a parent of a current freshman, my gut says sometimes there is no rhyme or reason to all of this!

My daughter had a 3.8 GPA UW (her HS didn’t weight, nor did they rank), her
SAT was 1360, she took 2APs as a senior, was in NHS, one community service club at her HS and was a high level club sport athlete for 10 years, training 25 hours a week. I’m assuming she had great recs from her HS teachers and I thought she wrote a great essay and supplement lol.

I guess what I’m saying is who knows what they look for except to fill a class with a diverse group of kids.

Good luck!

My daughter is a freshman.
I found that their net price calculator was very accurate. Hope this helps!
@RelocatedYankee

@shkodra14 sorry I don’t check this very often but I would love to make a group chat! I’m nervous/excited for the weekend too

@skico2018 No worries :slight_smile: I’ll private message you~

Has anyone received financial aid yet? When should we expect the fin aid package to be available?

Around end of Jan to beginning of Feb

Financial Aid is out

Did anyone set up a group chat for accepted students?
