Boston College RD 2022 Thread

@clvmsy Yes, emails should still come out on Thursday.

Do I stand a chance? GPA: 3.65 (about a 3.7/3.75 after semester 1), ACT: 34, 6 AP’s, 4 AP US, 5 AP WH, 5 AP English Lang, I run 2 clubs at school, I am a varsity athlete, I conduct cancer research at yale university, I participate in musical theater and choir, i have gone on exchange to spain, i interviewed, i visited, i also have multiple sports and academic awards.

@r5n38dj Perhaps you posted in the wrong thread; BC doesn’t interview and doesn’t track visits.

Admissions is probably waiting for housing selection to see how many spaces they have available for freshmen. Last year they took more than 100 extra students. Many students were placed into forced triples. This year the extra students will have to be placed in BC housing off campus as well as some freshmen dorms. The housing situation at BC is a total nightmare. BC tries to jam as many kids as possible into the dorms but there are fire codes.

@“longisland mom” There were forced triples 30 yrs ago. Last year’s forced triples were not surprising; many colleges were overenrolled.

@evergreen5 My point was not that there were forced triples ( I agree that has been happening for years) but that their freshmen class this year has a hundred more students than last year. BC Residential Life has announced that there is a housing shortage and some upperclassmen will be placed in freshmen housing so there will be less room for incoming freshmen. This is day 3 of the housing lottery and many students still don’t have rooms.

@“longisland mom” Maybe you saw this article:
https://bcheights.com/2018/03/19/due-limited-housing-availability-gonzaga-may-house-rising-sophomores/

Probably obvious, but I suspect fewer newly-accepted students will be guaranteed 4 yrs of housing. I wonder whether there is any special reason more juniors applied to live on-campus this year - I assume they can only live on-campus if they were guaranteed 4 yrs when they were admitted.

According to the Heights’ January article on early action, BC is hoping Class of 2022 will be 2290 students. That seems to be virtually same goal as in past years in spite of last year’s overenrollment.

I think yield prediction will be very tricky again this year. Apps increased dramatically at most selective colleges but I’m not sure whether anyone knows if that reflects a greater number of applicants or a greater number of apps per applicant (or a combination of both). BC accepted a greater number of students Early Action this year than last - perhaps they anticipate yield will go down a bit. It’ll be interesting to see what happens.

what time will they be released?

@evergreen5 Do you work for BC? You talk like you do. I thought this was a forum for students and parents?

@“longisland mom” lol no, just an alum and parent of some potential applicants.

@iappliedto25 Starting at 5:30 PM

Do y’all think the decisions will be released tomorrow if the storm is as bad as predicted?

Snow or no snow, I’m sure the IT Department has it all under control.

Villanova just announced that their overall acceptance rate is down to 29% this year, versus 35% in 2017.

I think BC was 32% last year. Is anyone hearing that BC saw a similar increase in apps? I’m afraid that it’s gonna be tougher than ever this year! :frowning:

@helicopterDad123 where did you see the information about villanova?

@777629 https://admissionsintel.com/villanova-acceptance-rate-now-29-percent/

Will we also be notified about FA packages today?

@Marzzz You mean tomorrow? I would assume that.

Oh okay and it’s the 22nd where i’m at :stuck_out_tongue:

@helicopterDad123 BC total apps increased 9% overall. http://bcheights.com/2018/01/17/3170-admitted-early-action-class-2022/ I would keep an eye out for a Heights article with RD data soon.
