@privatebanker get it. Rowers are a sort of rare breed cult. After 4 years in hs he wants to give it a go but did not go the recruiting route for that reason. Most of the rowers just love the brother/sister hood it provides and the opportunity to do something beyond themselves for their boat mates. He is accomustomed to 2 a days on break. That usually starts in hs at the more competitive programs. Anyone who hasn’t done it (including myself) typically has your reaction.
@privatebanker he has several friends who are rowing in college. And several who tried it and quit bc of the challenges and commitment you spoke of. Any college sport is a lot with the academics. He’s lucky to have opportunities to try it but not be bound if it’s too much. No olympics in his future for sure and he’s way more focused on academics
I totally understand. Going for my fourth Ironman this oct. but the rowers are a different breed. And it’s quite the workout.

I have a child at BC and went college in Amherst. Both would be fantastic. And I thought the area was a lot of fun.
I have a hard time with the early mornings. It was my only dislike during USMC OCS! Run me through a swamp. Sounds fun. bugles at o dark thirty. No thanks!
@privatebanker same here. Not a fan of early mornings at all. Ironically ended up with 2 rower sons and I’m the food mom for the whole team so around 8 weekends a year I find myself rising at 4 am ugh. Glad to hear you enjoyed Amherst. Hope to visit there if he’s accepted
I went to the big school next door.
And Amherst had the “Lord Jeff’s” sports teams name . That’s long gone now.

Im one of the people who didnt get the financial aid email (maybe because I submitted all of my FA documents on time and wasnt missing any of them) and the BC email thing in the portal happened to me too! I also noticed that it said underneath the option to change/confirm your email that “email sent to your BC email addresses will be forwarded to the email above” so perhaps that’s a good sign!
So, did anyone not see a change in the email link? Just wondering if everyone’s changed.
Mine is still closed, I doubt that’s a good thing haha (BC is a reach for me, stats are lower than a lot of people posting on CC) but who knows. Granted this is my first time ever logging into the portal so idk if that changes things or not.
Do you mean your portal is closed that you can’t log in?

I could open Email Service yesterday but it is closed now I can’t open it anymore.
I just can’t log in my portal, what happened? Is this a sign of rejection?
that’s really weird, maybe I just checked my portal after the email service thing closed. these may just be glitches with the portal

I can still log into my portal and click on the email services link, but this is probably just due to glitches or something. BC is a reach for me as well.
Glitch or no glitch, everyone will know tomorrow night. Sit tight. Don’t look at the portal. Time will go faster.

And under it says “retype current email address “
And down below it says “enter your BC password “
All week I’ve been hearing people in my grade talk about how they have no intention of going to BC but still applied-problems of being at an in state public school. Usually over 50 applicants and around 12 accepted. I wish ED had been implemented this year!
