@200287791 I think you have to mail them. You could call or email the FA office to confirm.
^ yes definitely confirm with the FA office. I submitted documents by mail and I believe the deadline was January 15, so I’d check with them to see what you can do. Maybe this was just the deadline to receive financial aid awards “early”?
What if you didn’t apply for FA and indicated on application you weren’t going to?
RD here. Got the email about missing FA docs too. Have to send them in regular mail.
Did anyone not get the FA email?
@jigsawfalling i didn’t get it but i didn’t apply for FA at all
I didn’t get it but I also mailed my information several months ago and am fairly certain I included everything I needed to include– wouldn’t read into it.
I applied RD and didn’t get it, I said on my application I wasn’t going to apply. I really hope this doesn’t mean I got rejected.
You will not get it if you did not apply FA or your FA application is complete.
I am 100% sure we are ineligible…we have only been approved for a $5000 unsubzized loan at every school our daughter has applied too…To print all of that info ad mail it seems like a lot of work. I am just going to skip sending info but hope it doesn’t hurt decision.
I think it is a good sign for all of you. My daughter applied rd and we had every piece of FA sent in on time. We did not get an email.
My S applied RD and we got the email yesterday. We aren’t applying for FA, yet I still have to do all of this?
@“VA–>NC” If you are not applying for financial aid, you would not need to give the financial aid documents.
I strongly suspect something went awry with this email (as something went awry last month, similar email).
@evergreen5 good to know, I have copied all my files and am mailing today. Filling out that CSS profile. They have received the FAFSA (just because he filled it out and put all the schools he applied to on it). The CSS is slightly more detailed . It’s showing “required” on his portal…so I am doing it, just to be safe. I have been seeing kids on here not being accepted for various checklist items not done, so I don’t want to hurt his chances if filling all this out checks that box.
@“VA–>NC” I would call the admission office before I’d bother filling out forms as they are definitely not required for admission. If your kid did not check the financial aid box by mistake on the Common App (you can take a look now, to make sure), that is strongly suspicious of something being wrong with this email.
I didn’t receive that email either.
Hmmm interesting
If this email/lack of email is to mean anything about admission likelihood, we will need to hear from a few people who:
- DID NOT get the email,
- Indicated they were applying for FA,
- Didn't send in the required documents (2017 taxes and w2's), and
- BC is a big REACH for them (basically they feel they have no realistic shot of getting in).
And even the above would not be perfect because people for whom BC is a reach still get in sometimes.
Otherwise, this speculation is meaningless and we should all relax–both those who received the email and those who did not. We will know soon enough.
We received the email, sent the documents in the mail
@MrRobot2018 I don’t know whether it is an indication of anything or not but all three things you said apply to me. BC is a bit of a reach for me and I was deferred EA.
