Anyone applying?

just an fyi - BC had a high yield this fall, so unless a lot more students take off for study abroad (freeing up bed space), the transfer admissions maybe lower than normal.

Good luck.

Do you guys think I have a good chance?

4.0 GPA
60+ incoming credits.

Matisyahu,

search the BC thread for posts by scottj who offers excellent suggestions for crafting a ‘Why BC?’ essay.

Numbers are clearly important – and you can’t get better than a 4.0, but fit is also critical, particularly for transfers.

I thought the Common Application essay was one for all schools.
And there is a supplement essay for BC.

I can’t seem to find essay from scottj

You won’t find any essay from scottj. Rather, you’ll find one or more valuable posts of his with thought-provoking comments about what you need to have in your essay.

If someone asked you in an elevator, “why are you applying to BC?”, could you answer them before the door opened? And if you conveyed that answer in your essay, would it catch the adcom’s interest and attention?

I see what you mean.
But the Common Application is for all schools, so I can’t just say why BC.
However, could I write an extra essay saying why?
There is also a supplement essay that BC added this year I think.

Dear Matisyahu : Please see the responses that I have written this evening to the first chance-me threads appearing for the Class of 2017.

Boston College now will have a second essay requirement targeted specifically at the “Why BC?” question although cast in the Jesuit tradition. Start with those questions - samples of which are on the BC web site. (Do your own homework here - do not come back and say “I could not find the topics”. It has been discussed here on College Confidential and on the BC web site by me personally.)

Honestly, from this thread, it is not at all clear WHY you are applying to Boston College. You have 1/2 of your credit hours completed at 4.0. Great achievement - but there are tons of valedictorians applying to Boston College every year. What separates your application from the pack?

I was planning to write that in my essay.
I know what the topics are, I was simply asking if I could write an extra why BC essay.
I realize that BC is a great school and has great applicants. Hence, I wanted to see what my chances were to see if I should even bother applying since I know the competition is hard.

On the website for Spring transfer it says the average SAT score was 1250 on a 1300 point scale. Does it mean 1600 point scale?
