I only have time to go to one Boston school besides Harvard and MIT. Which of these schools would be the best to go to?
Depends what you’re looking for. BC has more of a traditional campus, while BU and NEU are right in the city. That being said, I recently visited NEU and found that it had a nice balance of campus and city life - like a campus in the heart of the city. I loved NEU!
Honestly BC, but only because the other two are both in the city just like Harvard and MIT (granted Cambridge vs Boston) while BC feels like a traditional campus. All 5 campuses are definitely different, but if you are blasting through them the city ones are going to start to run together and you won’t see as many of the different possibilities as opposed to if you go visit BC.
If you have extra time though you can take the T(subway) and ride it through BU and NEU, you don’t have to take a tour.
BU has an amazing location, but its campus is literally a mile-long strip of bland office buildings along both sides of Commonwealth Ave. ; nothing much to see. BC is actually pretty, is in a beautifil neighborhood, & is atop a hill with nice views.
How long are you in Boston - what’s the logistics of travel? Travel to BC may make visiting all 3 impossible, or perhaps the logistics could lead to visiting four.
I agree that this also depends on what you want. Harvard and MIT makes it sound like you’re chasing prestige, possibly tech. Northeastern is probably the most STEM focused of the three if that’s the case.
If you mean you only have time to tour once of the schools, I suggest doing the tour, but then drive through the other campuses if you have a car. They are all pretty close to each other.
Boston College hands down…
My twins are starting BC in the fall so I guess I might be biased. Add that I’ve never been to Northeastern and early last summer after BC, we were in BU traffic in the city and they said no, we don’t have to tour. Also, their friend with excellent grades/SATs was waitlisted at BU (I believe all 3 had an increase in apps along with most colleges this year)
