Alright well one more hypothetical guys, I still have to hear from Emory and have been wait listed at WUSTL.
How do either of these measure up?
Thanks for all the input

I’d still go with ND.
Of the schools that have accepted you, Notre Dame would be the best for finance.
If you got a direct admit into Ross at Michigan, however you would have a more difficult choice. Michigan is better for finance than Notre Dame. Especially if you want investment banking. Michigan has better access to the IB world. They are comparable business schools and both are consider top 10 in the US for undergraduate business. I am in the finance field and have previously taught at a top business school.
As to social scene both are very good but Michigan is far bigger.
Michigan’s access to investment banking programs is wildly overstated. These positions are shrinking anyway as the industry continues its decline. I would never recommend a school to someone on the basis of how one tiny industry recruits.
ND Mendoza is now capped at 200 students per graduating class. At Michigan, you could easily have courses like Financial Accounting with 200 or 300 students for the first two years.
NDs kids probably gravitate toward more consulting and asset management, relative to Michigan. That is probably true.
At ND you will spend the first year in core curriculum I believe. Most importantly, learning to write and think critically.
Both ND and Michigan are quintessential big time, in your face, American College Experience, but ND is much smaller and more undergraduate focused. BC is similar in that regard but not on the national stage. Every ND football game is on national TV.
OP, ND and Michigan are bitter rivals in football but currently not scheduled to play for a while.
If you’re international, Michigan is arguably more well-known abroad, if you’re concerned about that. It’s also more of a party school than ND.
BC has the added advantage of being in Boston, which is a great city plus interesting internship opportunities.
ND is still the best choice overall, but you can’t go wrong with Mich or BC.
I went to ND (dad here) and my daughter chose BC over ND last year (she’s a freshman at BC). I recommend visiting the schools, if possible, before making a decision. My daughter chose BC over ND because of Boston. ND and BC are great schools, but they are in VERY, VERY different places. My daughter wanted to be in / near a major city. Even great college towns like Ann Arbor and Charlottesville didn’t appeal to her. She simply couldn’t imagine being in South Bend for 4 years. So you need to determine where you want to live and what’s important to you. You have great options and you’ll be fine wherever you end up. All great schools!
I’m very late chiming in here and probably no one is even checking this thread anymore, but I agree with bcdad1 above that you should strongly consider BC. They are actually known for finance and access to the city and NYC as well for internships and recruitment is pretty solid. My daughter chose BC over direct admit to Ross and Marshall at USC. She just finished her freshman year too and could not be happier with her choice. CSOM at BC has a much lower acceptance rate than the rest of the school and the students are very bright and top notch. Already as a freshman my daughter is getting ready for the business world, but still benefiting from the liberal arts core. Can’t recommend the school more. As for ND, I think it is a fabulous school and can understand the draw. You just have to decide if the location works for you. You have great choices…good luck!
^^^^The OP likely had to decide by 5/1.
I really like ND’s campus, and would imagine the football weekends are spectacular. I buy the whole “Rudy” image. But it gives me the creeps to think of a Friday or Sat. night on a non-football weekend. What to do ? Yeah. Chicago is kinda not real far away, but…not really. By most measures, ND’s academics are a half-notch above BC’s. But if you are comparing what to do on a Friday night or on a non-football weekend, it’s an A+ for Boston, and a D- for South Bend.
@moooop Go on the BC campus and ask that question. Also ask how often BC kids go to Boston. Having raised two boys from a big feeder to both schools, the same student doesn’t go to both.
BTW, I’m sure the students kept real busy through the Elite 8 this year at ND.
@moooop The ND campus with over 12,000 student is a pretty vibrant place. There are many different activities on campus, not all of which are sports related (concerts etc.). If one wants a city-based school then ND isn’t a great fit, but many schools are in non-urban areas and the students manage to have a lot of fun.
Regardless, the OP had to decide a school by May 1 so this is all moot.
Bubble, I’m really really familiar with bc, and the students go into the livelier parts of Boston a lot.
I fully realized 5/1 was the date but this is a good discussion nonetheless. I agree with you moooop…my daughter who is a freshman at BC (just finished) went into Boston OFTEN, at least once per week, as did I when I went there back in the 80’s. With that said, I do agree that ND doesn’t have to be “dead” just because it isn’t a football weekend. I recently spoke to an ND alum about this very topic and she said she never got bored at ND because it was just “magical” going there…I do think the school spirit is second to none there. With that said again, Boston is an incredible city and honestly, I think the schools attract similar students and they have very similar career paths coming out of their respective business schools. My current HS junior now is going to be applying to both as well as Georgetown…she is most likely Valedictorian and has almost perfect SAT scores. If she is lucky enough to get into all three, it is not out of the realm that she will pick BC Business…graduates do very well there and seeing her sister love it so much has really made an impression on her. But might be hard to say no to ND…not sure how we feel about Georgetown yet. I love hearing what you all have to say so please keep posting your opinions. I find them quite informative and helpful!
