Boston College vs. USC

Where would you go, and why? And which one is easier to get into?

Depends on if you want to work in the Northeast or SoCal.

USC's alumni connections in the SoCal area help out tremendously when you need to find a job.

academically, they are pretty much equal. i agree with the above poster. BC is prestigious only in the Northeast, whereas USC has a bit more national prestige but is very prestigious in Southern California. Overall, USC has a more powerful alumni network.

Bump....any more opinions?

USC-stronger national reputation.

It also depends on your major. What do you want to study?

The atmospheres are very different, although sports are important at both. Boston College does have a Catholic atmosphere. Some people feel as if the atmosphere is a little immature (overprotected students). I think that USC will increase in fame as the years go on. The west coast does not have enough large secular private universities. I would go with USC, but BC is a good school and Boston is a fun place.

USC is moving up in the rankings very quickly and is gaining more prestige every year.

USC is doing better than BC right now... or atleast it sure seems like it. I haven't heard too much about BC's strengths, but that's because I'm from CA =]

You get more choices and opportunities if you go to USC.

i think the OP wants to major in some field of business..

Yah I'm looking to major in business, and minor in communications.

I plan on applying to Pepperdine, LMU, and UPortland (I just got accepted yesterday).

As well as San Diego State, Indiana, and Florida State.

But my dream school is University of Miami because it combines all of the qualities I like in the other schools. Like the social scene and sports of IU and FSU, and the campus, location, weather, and beaches of Pepperdine and LMU.

But anyways, I'm looking to add one more big reach school, and I like USC and Boston College. USC seems like a better choice, but for some reason I love Boston College. It sounds and looks amazing (from the pictures I've seen).

So what do you think?

Carroll is very good for undergrad..you get more personal attention at BC...if your dream school is UM though, you will get in there if you are even thinking about applying to BC and USC
