Hi College Confidential! As a high school senior this year, I face the same problem millions of teenagers face each year: what college to attend. Although I have applied to 8 colleges in total, I strongly believe my ultimate choice will be between Boston College and Villanova. I have already been accepted to BC’s business school (CSOM) through the school’s early action plan. I applied to Villanova’s business school regular decision. From what I understand, BC has more to offer as far as business majors are concerned. However, I am also extremely interested in the physics and computer science fields. Does anyone have unbiased information about the pros and cons of each school and how they stack up against each other? Pretending that I am also accepted to Villanova, any insight would greatly be appreciated. Thank you so much!
Just wondering what you’ve decided. My son was accepted EA to both schools but has just made his decision…Villanova. I’m hoping there’s a business major he will be happy with. Right now he’s leaning towards finance. He chose nova based on the way he felt at each campus, nova being a more welcoming atmosphere for him. He also like the idea of VSB honors as opposed to CSOM non honors. He is a huge sports nut so either would have been good. Many on this forum will probably say BC is better. I would say just go with your gut. That’s what my son did. I really don’t think you could go wrong either way.
@Yankees92 I still haven’t made my decision. Haven’t even heard from Villanova yet (and not expecting to for a little while). Also waiting to hear from 6 other schools, some taking precedence to both BC and Villanova. However, considering my realistic chances of getting into the others I applied to, I believe BC and Villanova is what it will come down to. I haven’t visited Villanova yet, but I definitely like the things I’ve read about it. I will be visiting all my accepted schools before making my final decision.
My son’s close friend has been waiting for notice from V for merit money. None from BC though accepted. Another was accepted to GTown with no money and is also awaiting V merit. I think the bottomline price is what will determine the choice for these guys. For the one, a $5K differential a year is what will make V the choice. All things equal or within that differential, will make BC the choice.
@cptofthehouse Good point there. Merit will definitely play a factor in my decision as well. I guess I’ll have to wait to hear from both before seriously deciding.
