Boston College Vs William and Mary(MS in Accounting )

Hey guys,

I need some help. I am planning to do Masters in Accounting in the US and I am really torn between William and Mary and Boston college. Both these schools are really good and I seriously do not know which one to choose. William and Mary has been ranked above Boston in the PAR(Public accounting report) and It is also in a place where the cost of living is comparably cheap(Since I am an International student, I need to take this into consideration). On the other had Boston College has better reputation and recognition than W&M.But it is ranked below W&M for its Accounting program and also I need to pay 15k more . I need a job immediately after my course gets over and Its really hard to get a job in the US considering the Visa issues for International students.

Which one should I go for?
Boston College? (Hoping that its reputation would land me at a job anywhere in the US. )
OR
William and Mary?( Which is ranked better than Boston College and also has a better course work.)

Thanks

Better for what? I’d argue that, as far as general reputation and even recognition go, the schools are so similar that any distinction is almost meaningless. USNews places them both at #31 for national universities. If professional rankings place W&M above BC for your field of interest, wouldn’t that be a more compelling factor in your decision?

What are the job placement resources and stats like? BC has the advantage of being near a major metropolitan area; W&M has strong professional ties to DC.

What I meant to say here is that a lot of people do not know about W&M(Except for people who live near Virginia and DC) when compared to Boston College. Boston also has a very strong B school compared to W&M. Its MBA program is ranked really well, So I thought that way BC’s reputation is much better than W&M’s. The placements for International students are not great at W&M,but when I spoke to some students at BC, they were a bit more positive about placements for International students.I understand W&M has an excellent course work ,but I believe BC’s brand name would help me to get a job anywhere in the US. I know both schools almost have the same rankings, However, I think BC has a better reach than W&M.

Correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks
