Boston College Waitlist 2025

My son emailed his BC Admissions Officer to express continued interest and got a reply the next day indicating not to expect a response before May 1st and advising him to accept a top choice if he had one. Not promising for us…

from my school, seems like 2 people got in 2 got rejected and 10 got waitlisted (from what I’ve heard so far). Just wanted to share that statistic. A girl from my school last year got waitlisted and was admitted in late July. We might be waiting for a bit

I have to admire those who waited till July!

I don’t think I could wait that long…

99.99% cannot wait that long.

By July, I suspect most kids will have mentally moved on from the WL and will be excited about the school they accepted on May 1. How do you even find a roommate in July?

Many people go random for roommates regardless.

I would not use what happened last year as predictive of what will happen this year. Due to Covid there was an unprecedented amount of WL movement very late into the summer of 2020. Although this admissions cycle will not be completely normaI, I don’t expect that you will have to wait until July to find out if you will be offered a spot this year.

No. Decision Day is May 1 which is the date students have to commit to a college. My daughter had already put a deposit down at a different school a few weeks before but then got the call form BC on or about May 2-3. She ended up having about a week to decide.

So basically the deposit will be forfeited if not going to the original one. Right?

Yes. We were lucky that where my daughter committed separated the admission deposit and housing deposit so we only lost the admission deposit ($300). The housing deposit was not due until June I think.

Actually, whether it’s BC or any other school, I think it’s a good idea to mentally move on from the WL as soon as you opt onto it and send in your LOCI. If it happens, it happens, but you should focus your attention on choosing between the schools that you have been admitted to since, in all probability, it’s one of those schools that you will be attending in the fall.

What do you think the chances are this year of getting off the waitlist based on last year?

Have any of you guys sent appeal letters to the admissions office yet?

We only responded to the portal, “Yes, please add me to the waitlist”. No further communication has been made.

Hey guys! Just wanted to know if anyone had any thoughts on Boston College’s Waitlist this year. Does anyone think they’ll release decisions before May 1st? Do you think there will be any waitlist activity? Leave your thoughts below, I’m curious and freaking out.

they stated in their email that there’s no waitlist activity before may 1st. may 1st is also the deadline of submitting a LOCI. i’m also curious about statistics but they said it’s around 50-300 every year. pretty big range so not much of a clue. i also found this website for statistics.

Looking at last year’s waitlist thread, BC started pulling from their waitlist on 4/28. I don’t know if this was an anomaly due to the pandemic.
