Boston college yeild and waitlist acceptance rate

what is the typical yeild percantage and waitlist acceptance rate of bc? do you think today’s economy will decrase the yeild/increase the waitlist acceptance especially because of the limited aid bc offers?

Do not know the exact yield rate…thought I read somewhere that a few years ago BC accepted like 3800 kids to yield ~2300. My D was waitlisted by BC…but their Waitlist is a joke…they offer WL to 2000! Ridiculous, anyway, good luck to you.

The typical wait list acceptance for BC is about 250 out of 2-3 thousand students.

I agree with Getty, their WL is ridiculous.

Their waitlist letter says in recent years, they have enrolled between 50 and 300 students from an active waiting list of about 2000. That’s anywhere from a 2.5% chance to a 15% chance of getting in off the waitlist…ugh not good chances.

Ah crap I asked this question in another thread, didn’t see this. Woops!

Personally, I think there would definitely be less yield and acceptance onto the waitlist. I mean, I’m picking to enroll in a state school because of the economy, and I will shoulder the burden of the price of BC if I happen to get off the waitlist. Plus I figure if much fewer kids decide to enroll, I could probably negotiate my aid a little more with them.

Dear sportgirl234, SBtester and all : Last year, BC attracted 31,000 applications, provided slightly over 7,000 acceptances and enrolled a class of approximately 2,250. (The yield has been in the 30-35% range for the last several years.) This year, the acceptance pool was slightly expanded, an acknowledgement of the current economic cycle (more acceptances might turn down enrollment based on tuition/fees).

BC does waitlist a lot of people, but their percent acceptance off the waitlist is higher than most schools its level where they waitlist 900 people and accept 30.

Dear sportgirl1234, i m waitlisted by BC too but i don’t think it has anything to with fin aid cause i m an international student and i m not applying for fin aid, which means i am just not outstanding enough…heartbroken…

Not to confuse things further but…

Does anyone know the % of students who accept waitlisted status?

2000 may be offered waitlist but if only 200 chose to accept the status then your chances of coming off the list are dramatically different.

i hope not too many vince

Haha we’re all thinking that

This is depressing. I was waitlisted at BC too and it was shocking to hear them say that the waitlist contained 2000 students. Still, if I get in, I’m definitely going.
