In short why can't UMass have a top Div. 1 football team. Again, take this series with a grain of salt. Granted, UMass-Amherst is under-funded, but UMass also has three other campuses that need to be funded, not just Amherst, and those campuses add over 25,000 students to the system making the whole college system much larger than UConn. the article never mentions Lowell, Dartmouth, or Boston, which are the other campuses the state funds.

I’m from Ohio so I love fooootball! I read that UMass might try to upgrade to the MAC conference. I thought the article was pretty good. If I get into UConn I’m going there. I’m wondering why UMass didn’t do what UConn did 25 years ago and invest in the campus. My gc actually told me that UConn’s OOS freshman now make up over 1/3 the class. To me UMASS should try something like that. It raises money (higher tuition) and you get a larger pool of applicants.

Hopefully UMASS can get some of the success that UConn has! And maybe we can play in football!
