Surprising S for his 21st bday. Got Sox tix and staying in the seaport area. Looking for restaurant reccs in that area. We are all foodies so looking for high quality and nice atmosphere/location. Heading up on Sat but his bday is Sun so we may do a comedy show or indoor bowling or something until midnight and then hit a bar or two. Mama’s going to need her caffeine lol. Appreciate any suggestions!
Woods Hill Pier 4 is in the Seaport. I haven’t been but it’s farm to table menu looks amazing. Barbara Lynch opened a place in the Seaport if you would like to do a chef’s tasting menu. Not sure of the name.
Nautilus (Pier 4; tapas)
We ate at their other location this summer which had a similar but not identical menu. Highly recommend reservations.
I haven’t eaten here myself but people keep recommending Saltie Girl to me. Very seafood focused, looks like a fun menu.
Thx! Will check it out.
Sorry I just came across this post, where did you end up eating?
It’s next weekend, but thx for the reminder as I have to make reservations! I think I am going with The Nautilus or Woods Hill as I had come across them previously and both were mentioned here. Did you have a recc?
A friend recommended Row 34 for a gift card for my daughter, she loved it and is a bit of a foodie.
Well, you can’t beat those two in terms of proximity to your hotel.
For tapas Toro is the go to.
For Italian in the North End I lean towards Giacomo’s and Mama Maria’s.
Menton isn’t far from where you’re staying, but it’s pricey.
For Japanese it’s O ya.
Oh my…Menton looks amazing! Expensive but looks like the wine pairings are included. ETA nope, not included. I just hadn’t scrolled down far enough
Boston is not a great restaurant city like SF, NY, LA or London but let me make a few suggestions. A lot of the restaurants are good but not great and many Bostonians like what I think of as expensive, very well-prepared comfort food. I prefer things that are more adventurous and creative.
If you are going to a Sox game, Blue Ribbon Sushi is a Japanese restaurant nearby that had some pretty interesting dishes.
A little farther away, the chef at Mooncusser is very creative. I’ve had a number of very good meals there. He was the chef before at Tables at a Season to Taste in Cambridge, which used to be one of my favorites in the Boston area. It has gone downhill when he left. One of my favorites in Boston.
We took some friends out for a birthday at Saltie Girl. Quite good. Better than expected.
Fox & Knife gets very good reviews as does Celeste. I haven’t been there in a while but I used to be a fan of Mistral.
Had a fantastic meal (expensive and probably too far away) at a restaurant called the Nightshade Noodle Bar. Another of my favorites.
I have not been at Woods Hill Pier 4 but the same owner’s Woods Hill Table in Concord has always seemed good but not great.
Thank you! While those look like good options, we actually decided to go to the north end. Have reservations at Mamma Maria’s as a backup but will hit Giacomo’s first and hopefully get in there (they don’t take reservations) North end is so pretty to walk around. Will have to check out Mooncussers at some point. Dh worked on Stuart Street when we lived in Chestnut Hill.
