Did you put your SSN on the common app, CSS, and FAFSA? I thought I’d put my SSN on my common app, but I didn’t, so I emailed BU and they put an SSN upload form on my portal and now they’ve checked off CSS and FAFSA. You may want to double check you put your SSN on those things
BU’s portal is temporarily down for maintenance right now
Do you think they’ll release decisions early??
Not likely. At least they have a release date
Does anyone know what time they release?
It is easier to get into. My daughter would accept either, but did not specifically apply to CGS. I’m a BU alum '83. CGS used to be College of Basic Studies. CBS. It was called “Cookie Baking School” back then .
Now some refer to it as crayons, glue, scissors.
Back in '88, I applied to BU (first choice) and NU for Physical Therapy. NU accepted me for PT, BU accepted me for CBS. We dutifully traveled to attend information sessions at both schools.
I was so offended by BU’s “Some kids need a bridge to college” that before we left, I told my mom, “They don’t think, I can do it. Screw them.”
Then I went to Northeastern’s session where I was welcomed with an individual meeting with someone in the PT department. Chose NU. Switched after 1 year to psychology. Later returned to NU for law. Successful in both programs.
I’m glad I never put myself in a situation where faculty and peers would think less of me. Some kids haven’t hit their stride by senior year in HS. If you are a selective school, just say no. Don’t accept students and treat them like second class students.
(Can you tell i’m still sore about it? )
Is anybody’s portal down? Site says there is maintenance
My sons portal is down too. This happened earlier this week too. I’m sure it’s nothing to worry about
Someone said tomorrow
They already sent out an email that confirms a decision release on 3/25 (Saturday); I don’t think they’ll move the release date up a day:
is there a time time that they’ve historically sent out decisions? i tried looking through twitter to see the timestamps of people saying they got in and I think it’s normally in the morning but im not sure. does anyone know?
based on the CC thread for last year, they did come out in the morning, and someone said that’s how BU always does it, so I think you’re right!
When was this email sent?
mar 2
do you know what time in the morning, like before noon? or earlier?
From last year’s thread it appears that decisions were released at 10 AM EDT.
While waiting for decisions please read the BU admissions website.
You may be admitted to College of General studies (CGS). Last year some did not know what this was. If offered CGS it is a final decision. You cannot switch to another program until completing the two-year CGS program.
Some students were offered Guaranteed Sophomore Transfer. Essentially they were denied as freshmen but can transfer if stated conditions are met.
All admissions decisions are final. You cannot appeal.
Does BU also do a spring semester admission? I thought I had read something about a program where you don’t go for the fall semester, and then attend for the spring semester and then either do the summer semester (after freshman year) abroad or in a special program in Boston, so that at the beginning of your sophomore year you are caught up and have done two full semesters of
college. But I can’t find the info on that now? Am I imagining it?
