Boston U. Class of 2027 Official Thread

Agree. Seems like a lot of creative options are being offered to these kids instead of a simple yes or no answer.

Son accepted, mechanical engineering
3.93 UW, 1530 SAT/35 ACT (submitted ACT), no AP only honors offered at school, self-studied and scored 4ā€™s on 2 APā€™s
Decent ECā€™s: research, sports, leading clubs, accomplished martial artist, volunteering, part of a really cool club making planes.
His private college app results are not great, 6 rejections, 2 waitlists, 3 acceptances. BU is the highest ranked private college he has been accepted so far.
On the other hand, he is in at quite a few public uniā€™s with strong engineering programs including: Purdue, UIUC, Georgia Tech. He is also in for UCLA (in-state for us).
Best wishes to everyone!

Waitlisted. Apparently, they like to do that a lot but itā€™s chill

DD23 got the guaranteed transfer option. Not a bad plan B for next year in case the school she picks for this fall doesnā€™t work out for whatever reasons.

GeorgiaTech, although not private, is one of the best in the country for engineering and of course so are Purdue, UIUC and UCLA. Amazing results - congrats

OK, I found this line in FAQ: If, in the course of the coming year, you choose not to pursue enrollment at BU, you are not bound to the agreement.

Daughter Rejected - 4.6 Weighted GPA, 4 year varsity athlete, 4 yr class president, 9 APs, #1 in her class, 4 yr marching band, 5 week research mentorship on college campus last summer. Applied biochemistry. She has gotten into Northeastern, Lehigh, NC State (also honors college), and UNC -Chapel Hill (we live in NC). Got Priority Waitlisted at Carnegie Mellon. Luckily she is taking it well as Boston was not a top choice but she is my oldest and this college admissions process is brutal!

Yikes! My daughter was waitlisted for the Nutrition program. Not surprised or upset. She applied on a whim with a 1400 SAT and showed zero demonstrated interest. Congrats to everyone who got in and good luck to those on the waitlist! Weā€™re moving on to some other great options

Do you have to put a deposit down?

In the past students offered Guaranteed Sophomore Transfer but do not transfer were then offered Guaranteed Junior Transfer.

waitlisted for psych, OOS 4.0UW/4.45W, good ECs/essay/LORs/awards although Iā€™d say nothing too spectacular, little demonstrated interest, 1570 SAT + National Merit semifinalist, 10 AP classes (tests - five 5s, one 4)

Not that upset because I wanted to stay in-state anyways (CA) and go bruins!!

DS23 accepted 3.8 unweighted 1440 SAT Engineering. No $ - wish we could afford the $86,000 per year but we canā€™t.

@D23parent Thank you! Had we known that his profile is not what private colleges are looking for, we could have saved the money and time. We were warned going in the process that engineering is very competitive so casted a very wide net and applied all over the country. We didnā€™t expect to get into places like UCLA or GT (accepted after deferred at EA). Even though our school counselor in the end thought that he applied to too many, he did cover all the bases, big, small, top tier, lower tier, private, public. Thank goodness this is the second and the last kid in the house:)
