I am flying out to Boston tomorrow night for a BU audition on Friday and an Emerson audition on Saturday.
Can anyone tell me what to expect? Any tips?

Also: Does either school factor in academics as WELL as your audition?
[As in...would a great audition but TERRIBLE grades rule over someone with a decent audition and AWESOME grades?]

stage baby my daughter is a junior at Emerson , but also checked out BU , Originally she wanted to be a film major.
While I don't have any personal experience with theatre at Emerson , my daughter's roommate is a BFA acting student and she has close friends who are in various theatre majors there. I have heard them talk about their auditions and they found Emerson's to be some of the best experiences they had.
Emerson and BU are entirely different schools though both great .
My daughter chose Emerson because it was a better fit for her ( though she is contemplating grad school at BU )
Either way , they are both wonderful schools in a very vibrant city. Make the most of your weekend, and if you can , try to see as much of Boston as you can , despite the cold !
break a leg

At the BU acting audition last year, the auditor said that the audition was the main thing as far as factors for admission, but if a kid had a 2.0 average or less, well, that even a brilliant audition would not overcome that. So for Boston at least, the academic bar is not very high.

lje62- Congrats on your daughter's success! And thanks for the advice!! :] I am leaving tomorrow night and staying til Sunday morning, so hopefully I can fit in some sightseeing. :]

NotMamaRose- Ok, thank you! I'm well off on academics, so that's one thing I don't have to worry about, haha. :]

well, it looks like im too late, but i hope your audition went well. if you're interested in BU or have any questions, let me know. i'm a student in the program and i'd be glad to help you with whatever you need.

fremix...what is the average grades and sats to get accepted into bu theatre? what is your opinion on the training? can you take private voice lessons on the side?
