Hey. I attend a public high school in New York, and will be a Senior from 2009-2010. I am interested in attending a 7 year direct BS/MD program in college, however, from different people I have heard that these programs are indeed very selective and competitive before and after admission. Preferably I would like to get into BU's program (main goal). I was just inquiring whether I have a chance or not. I took the March 2009 SAT and scored a 2080/2400 (Math: 740, Writing: 750, CR: 590). I plan on taking it again in October 2009 with intensive studying/preparation and do intend on getting a 2200+ score. My current unweighted GPA in percentage/100 is 93. My weighted GPA in %/100 is 96.58. I am not sure about what it is in the 1-4 scale. My extracurricular activities include:
Karate (1st degree Brown belt) 5 years so far
Varsity Tennis 3 years- first doubles/3rd singles
Mathletes 5 years -currently vice pres
Science Olympiads 4 years
250 + hours of volunteer service
Music Honor Society 3 years
National Honor Society
Foreign Language Honor Society 2 years
Playing Piano 4 years
Trumpet 8 years
Have won 1 intermediate science fair in 9th grade (Nyssef Nebula)

I took 3 SAT II Subject tests:
World History - 680
Math Level 1 - 770
Biology M - 720
** WIll be taking Chemistry and Math Level 2 in November..

If all goes well with SAT and SAT 2's, what chance do I have of entrance into BU's or any other BS/MD 7 year program???

yes you have pretty good stats but you will need to bring up that SAT score significantly. But then again with stellar stats, you never know, its a tough program to get into, but you do have a chance.

Without higher test scores, your chances are extremely low. But, even with higher test scores, you are missing appropriate ECs, i.e., medical-type activities, including research.

For perspective, a local kid I know who was accepted into the BU program (and a couple of others) had a 4.0 uw (or maybe one A-, so 3.95) from one of the top publics in Calif, 2350/35, 3x800, 4 5’s (incl. Bio, Chem, Phys), Intel semi (medical research).

What if I do get above a 2300/2400 on the SAT and do well on the Chemistry and Math 2 SAT II’s? My extra curriculars are not focused on the medical field but I did try to achieve an all around solid resume. Compared to the other BS/MD programs such as Drexel’s, Rice’s, and Sophie Davis’, how difficult is admission into BU’s program.

I tried to acquire a research position, but I was unsuccessful…

By the time I graduate, I will have taken the following APs: Chem (93%), US History (93%), Bio (91%), Stat(93%), Econ, Calc BC, English Language and Comp(90), English Literature and Comp

ECs: Junior States of America-3 yrs (will run for office senior year)

What are my chances of getting into any 7 year BS/MD program?

hey guys so i am currently a rising junior and I am looking to apply to this program. I did a 10 week agriculture research internship over the summer, and I am now looking to immerse myself in shadowing and hospital volunteering. What would you guys say is a good amount of hours to have in both shadowing and volunteering? Also, would you consider agriculture research okay for the program? Thanks in advance!

So if you apply for this BS/MD program and are not one of those 20-25 students, are you totally rejected by BU or are you eligible for normal 4 year undergraduate program in say premed or bioengineering?
