Boston University Chances?

Hi!
I am incoming senior at a high school in Maine. I am interested in going in a pre-med track particularly at Boston University. Do I have a chance?

Considering going ED

GPA: 3.8 unweighted junior year
Freshman: 2 honors
Sophomore: 2 honors
Junior: 1 AP, 1 IB-pre AP, 1 honors
Senior: 3 AP, 1 honors

Good EC’s (co-pres for Student council, dance company that gives back to city community, blood drive volunteering)

Both National and French Honor Society Member

SAT New Test: 1070, I have never been a strong standardized test taker :frowning:
No ACT yet

It’s my top school as of right now and I am most likely going to be applying to the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of General Studies. My SAT scores scare me for my possibility of admission so I would love to hear what other people think. Thanks!

Is your unweighted GPA just from junior year or cumulative up until now? If you improve your standardized test scores, your chances of admission would definitely increase (an ideal score would be 1400+). For the pre-med track, I would suggest taking some SAT Subject Tests, such as Math II, Biology-M, and/or Chemistry.

They are cumulative and my counselors want me to take the ACT more so over the SAT since the tests themselves are different. Thanks!

You gotta get those test scores up or BU is gonna think your school has grade inflation. I have a 3.65 weighted but my ACT is a 30 and I’m taking 8 AP’s. Applying ED2. Hope I see you there!

I think your good grades definitely give you a chance, and if you have a successful essay that could work in your advantage. Applying ED may help a lot. I am in the same situation, except my GPA is on the lower end, and my test scores are what is working in my favor. If not to CAS, you stand a greater chance at CGS. Hope to see you there!

Chance me back!

from what I have seen, BU does not like inconsistent sat to gpa scores. if you have a high gpa you should be scoring equally high on the SATs, the inconsistence is very worrying to them
