Boston University ED 2017 applicants stats and Results

i loved the campus! i like how it’s integrated into the city of boston, yet it’s still a “campus” because it’s primarily all stretched down commonwealth. for comparison, when i visited NYU, it has basically no campus at all. the buildings are scattered all throughout, and although some are in bundles together, there are many buildings that are quite a ways apart.
BU is the perfect combination of city + campus in one.
the people were also super friendly, and there’s a lot to do!

A little info on the dorms: My D lives in West, it’s almost all freshman and sophmores, about half are athletes (my D is not). Has a very good dining hall (all the dining hall are very good actually). They just opened this fall a new dining hall on Bay State Rd. (East Campus) which is phenomenal. They’ve had lots of themed dinners this year (a lobster dinner for everyone on campus one night, most recently this week they had a latkepalooza dinner) so great and fun.

D originally was living in Towers the first week of school but did a direct swap with someone in West. She switched because she is a CGS student and from West it’s only a 3 minute walk, 15 minute walk from Towers. Towers has slightly bigger rooms than West or Warren, but not by much. Rooms are fairly small so be prepared, but not so small that you can’t have some stuff. Don’t bring any extra furniture, no room for it.

westie22: thank you so much!
so i guess whether i get into CAS or CGS will be the real deciding factor in which dorm i want to live in…

I wouldn’t mind walking 10 minutes every day if the benefits are worth it.

Ever heard of the freshman15?

LOVED campus. I flew up there in March for the first time and I was so paranoid that I wasn’t going to love it anymore once I visited. Let’s just say I flew back up there in August (and am going back next Friday ;))

@maskingtaped - No problem! I’m no expert, but any other questions you have I’d be happy to answer, except when the decisions are coming haha. And yes, CAS is closer to Towers and Warren. My daughter loves it there. I wish all of you the best of luck and if you do get in you will be very happy there.

pillburydough: i completely forgot about the freshman 15!
i’m still not sure though. i think after walking 15 minutes to school for four years, even in below-zero weather, all i want now is a convenient place to live where school is right around the corner, haha.
oh boy, those dining halls are going to be the death of me…

@Pillbury - My D says that everyone she knows has not really gained weight, including herself, because of all the walking they do everywhere. Even though she is in CGS she has a couple of classes at CAS a week, plus the FitRec center is right next to West, it’s fabulous there and free for all students. Also right in front of West and before the field is a nice grassy area, so there is a little bit more of a campusy feel there.

@emmanuelb my parents and I had the same deal

can you have a car as a freshman?

Jdoe- I HIGHLY doubt you’ll need one ;)

jdoe123; i believe you can, but there really is no reason to. i feel like a car would just be a burden, since the T runs all the way down commonwealth, and you can get to just about anywhere in Boston on the metro.

Jdoe123 - They have a pretty good transportation system and if you are too lazy to walk like me you can always bike or skate

@Jdoe - I believe only Jrs. and Srs. can have a car, but I don’t think very many do. If you live on campus I would think the parking fees would be astronomical. You don’t really need a car, you can get anywhere with the T or the BU bus. I think the only students who have cars are the commuters and the upperclassmen who live off campus in housing with parking.

Venomradios: Hopefully we’ll be able to go this winter to visit!

So, we wait another day?

i guess so. :/

im afraid so :(

WAIT. unless its at 8-8:30pm… CHECK THEN AS WELL.

of course i’ll be waiting until i pass out from exhaustion at 10:30 tonight!
