ENG
act: 29
gpa: 4.63/5.3
I’m sure you will be fine! I was not expecting to get in at all.

To anyone who got accepted:

I know that our admission is dependent on us maintaining our academic standard bla bla, but do i have to keep up my 4.11 (weighted) 2nd semester? Now that i’ve gotten into college would it kill for me to get B’s in my APs, or even B’s in general? I had a 3.7 cumulative first 3 years but sent 4.11 first quarter grades and was accepted ED. Thanks.

Honestly as long as you don’t fail out of your classes you should be fine ;)

Your admission will not be revoked. But be aware that if you are the type of student who did well in high school because your parents and teachers were looking over your shoulder, you may have trouble in college. No one is going to be there to make you do the work. And then there are all the social distractions of college…

I know, I got a 4.28 weighted first quarter, SO not happening second quarter or semester, especially in AP Chemistry.

how low would your grades have to drop to get rescinded?
I got accepted into the college of arts and sciences with a 3.5 unweighted, 4.0 weighted. 1290/1910 SAT. Lots of extra curriculars.
First quarter senior grades were 1 A and 5 B’s so i got accepted with a lot of B’s as is.

I think A’s and B’s are fine, but if you start getting C’s and are not typically a C student, then that might be an issue; they just want to make sure you’re as academically motivated as you were before you got accepted.

What are my chances of getting into Boston University for RD?

I am a high school senior. I have a 3.91UW GPA (4.23 weighted) and I will have taken 8 AP classes by the end of this year.
Freshman year was a bad year for me. I got a 3.8 gpa

Dear Ms. [last name]:

Congratulations! On behalf of the Board of Admissions, I’m excited to welcome you to Boston University and the Class of 2017. You have been admitted to the College of Arts & Sciences under the Early Decision program from a competitive applicant pool of very talented students from across the nation and around the world. Your admission to Boston University is an accomplishment in which you can take great pride.

You will find yourself in great company. You join a select group of students, ranking at the top of their classes, who will come to BU to learn in a challenging academic environment from award-winning faculty and from each other. By taking advantage of the opportunities available to you as a BU student, you will learn and experience more than you ever thought possible.

Our offer of admission is extended with the understanding that you will maintain your current level of academic performance through the remainder of this academic year. We require you to submit a copy of your final high school transcript at the end of the academic year, including proof of graduation, to verify that you have maintained that standard.

Written notification of your admission and all supporting documents will arrive by mail soon. As a reminder, Early Decision is a binding program. Your nonrefundable enrollment deposit of $650 must be submitted to Boston University Admissions on or before January 15, 2013. Also, you should withdraw all applications for admission to any other colleges or universities to which you have applied.

In March, you will be emailed instructions for securing your place in University housing and information about University Orientation. You will register for your first-semester classes at your University Orientation session during the summer. To learn more about University Orientation, registration, housing, and dining options, visit the Admitted Student website.

Once again, congratulations. I am thrilled that Boston University is your first choice, and I look forward to your joining our campus community in September.

Director of Admissions

Your test scores and GPA are above last year’s averages, and your EC’s show that you’re committed. With your “very powerful, well-written essays” to top it off, I believe you have a good shot.

And a 3.8 gpa isn’t bad!

I got a 3.2 my freshman year. Now that was bad. It took everything to bring it up. Thankfully BU saw past that!

I’m relieved! I was devastated when I got deferred from Georgetown.
