has anyone gotten their scholarships? if not, when are they released? I only got my financial aid package nothing about scholarship, such as the presidential scholarship.
I believe that merit aid would be shown with the acceptance, not later.
A little late but I’m very excited to join the terrier family at COM! Also, my tentative merit aid was announced in my acceptance
@OrangeDoorHinge aye fellow COM buddy! And I believe the presidential scholarship shows up in the tab on the right under “merit decision” (something like that) if you’ve received it.
Congrats to those of you who got in!! I applied to the ED II deadline. Is there anyone else that is applying to that deadline?
@bostonbound123 I will be applying ED II
Oh awesome, @sinahodge ! Would you be willing to share your stats?
Here are mine:
Applied to CGS ED II
SAT: 1850 (low but ACT and essay and such should make up for it)
ACT: 33
GPA unweighted: 3.65
Have taken APs and other college level classes. Am currently taking an AP and 4 honors level classes
Have countless hours of community service
Two teacher recs (would rate both a 9/10 based on the teachers and the courses)
Rec from an employer who is very well known in the business world
I go to a really prestigious prep school
Some extracurriculars include: Internship at an aquarium, debate (including multiple state awards), piano, LGBTQ club at school, soccer (varsity and select club), peer tutoring for AP chem, and others
Best of luck to you!!
@bostonbound123 Just curious - did you send your SAT scores? What were your ACT subscores? With a 33, I wouldn’t have bothered to send the 1850 SAT.
@bostonbound123 For sure, here are my stats. Yours are better than mine though…
Objective:
Applying to CAS but also considered for CGS if I don’t get in
[ *] SAT I (breakdown): 1970 (660 math 660 writing 650 reading)
[ *] ACT: 29 (30 english 30 reading 28 science 27 math) but waiting on the December scores…
[ *] SAT II: 730 math I, 620 math II
[ *] Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 3.3 (trash… but straight 3.5-3.7 since last semester sophomore year. Freshmen year killed my gpa…hoping the strong upward trend helps.)
4.0 GPA from a community college where I got a math credit from
[ *] Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): Doesn’t rank
[ *] Senior Year Course Load: Two science courses and an honors math, along with regular classes (for first semester)
[ *] Major Awards: No major awards… but honor roll, athlete scholar, varsity letter
Subjective:
[ *] Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): Hoping this makes up for poor GPA
[ *] Job/Work Experience: No paid jobs
[ *] Volunteer/Community service:
Research/computer work for head of otolaryngology department at Dartmouth Hitchcock Hospital. Chose me to lead patient data management project, and he wrote me probably my best recommendation. My essays all revolve around this work. Probably among the most important parts of my app
Volunteered at a food pantry for a long time
Sports (4) varsity and JV
Science olympiad
Piano
Debate
Student gov
Get tutored in Arabic/Turkish, proficient (also fluent in Farsi)
[ *] Essays: Pretty damn good essays, hired a past Dartmouth admission counselor current Dartmouth Med student to help write them.
[ *] Teacher Recommendation: 9/10 (one of them pretty much asked me to write a rec for me)
[ *] Counselor Rec: She said she emphasized my “diversity”… I’d probably say 7-8/10
[ *] Additional Rec: 10/10 from the head of otolaryngology at the hospital. Obviously haven’t read it, but I’m sure it’s really good
[ *] Intended Major: Biology, Pre-med
[ *] State (if domestic applicant): NH
[ *] School Type: Prestigious public (#1 public in NH)
[ *] Ethnicity: Middle Eastern
[ *] Gender: Male
[ *]Legacy: Harvard University, Dartmouth College
[ *] Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): URM (if Middle Eastern counts…), proficient in several languages and fluent in Farsi. Dunno what else.
General Comments: I consider BU a stretch still as EDII, but I really have no idea. Any input from you guys would be great as to my chances of admission.
@suzyQ7 I did submit my SAT score. I know that I didn’t need to with my ACT score though. For ACT I had a 36 (English), 34 (science), 32 (reading), and 30 (math) for a 33 total score.
@sinahodge Thanks for sharing stats! Wishing you the best of luck with decisions!
@bostonbound123 Thank you same to you! (new account)
anyone else applying EDII and willing to share their stats?
Did anyone get accepted ED to the College of Engineering and is willing to share stats? Thanks!
Quick question: Will they notify you once all the spots that can be filled by waitlisted applicants are filled and there is no longer any chance to be admitted?
