Boston University ED2 - co 2025

thank you so much for this

My portal was down a couple days ago, but it’s been up ever since

That is not correct. Total class size is 3200. Both ED1, ED2 combined + RD.

So you have to subtract 53% of 3200 from the presumed ED1 acceptances and divide by total ED2 applicants.

No I think strawberbi is right. I’m assuming she got her info from http://www.bu.edu/articles/2021/bu-sees-surge-in-applicants-despite-pandemic/ and in the last paragraph it says there’s 3200 available spots. Plus, BU has nearly 18,000 undergrads right now and I think an incoming class of only 3200 would be too small.

Check the latest common data set, the link of which I included in the previous post. I think section C if I remember correctly. They also give total number of acceptances for ED (1 & 2 combined) somewhere in there. I don’t expect a major deviation. Perhaps enrollment can go up by 10% max = 3500 at most.

Yes in addition we also have to take into account the amount of students who will decline admission from Bu in the RD pool as BU does have a low yield rate at 20% so it is hard to tell how many they are accepting and if they are trying to accept more ED to help the yield rate?

Actually the yield was something like 27% if I remember correctly. Not bad comparing to peers like Boston College, Case western, Rochester etc. And also considering BU is much bigger than all of them, the bigger the school, the lower the yield generally. And acceptance rate lower than all of them.

I really hope it is tomorrow, but I am also okay with it being this week! We’re getting so close, and I’m getting anxious. Ahh!!

But if we do the math if the entire incoming class is only 3200, I got around a 14% acceptance rate for ed 2 which seems wayyyyy too low considering that’s lower than RD. My math could be wrong but idk. Does anyone have any thoughts on this cuz I’m just getting confused now lol.

I agree. The article says “With the application deadline now past, the Admissions team must sort through the remaining applications to fill the 3,200 available spots” so I took that as they have 3200 spots to still fill after the ED1 applicants… I’m not sure though

Can some one let us know if their decision are out sometime this week? Good luck to everyone applying!

That is how I interpreted this as well. I think that there are 3200 left in total meaning that the 39% acceptance rate calculated previously is correct.

We thinking today?

im thinking it could be any day now so maybe  my portal hasn’t gone down again though… not sure if that has anything to do w/ when decisions come out tho

Normally there are 2 shut downs, and since we had the one I feel like it is likely the other (which is when they release decisions) might be today Bc why would they wait a whole week to release after the first one. Also they do have a history of releasing on mondays, but I’m not positive this is just a guess so we will see later in the afternoon if our portals shut down!! Good luck everyone I’m so nervous!!:heart:

Me waking up every morning and checking this thread like it’s the morning news. If not today, it’ll definitely be sometime this week because the 15th is President’s Day and offices will be closed. Regardless, good luck everyone!

I had two shutdowns last week. That makes me feel like they’re coming out today. Crossing my fingers.

3200 is the size of the total freshman class, excluding CGS.

i see i see. thank you !!

Based on 1285 students being admitted through ED1 and a class size of 3200, this leaves 2800 ED2 applicants and the school saying 53 percent admitted from ED as a whole. Is this factual?
