Boston University- Master's in International Affairs

Hello,

I have just been accepted into the IR graduate program at Boston University. It was the only school I applied to, since I was already an employee at the school and I got in relatively easily. Going this route, I can be a part-time student basically for free, using employee benefits. I plan to concentrate on Security Studies and am very interested in an IR career (I don't have a specific agency or anything where I NEED to end up, I'll just go where my education/experiences take me).

My question is: Since I'm committed to this school and won't be going through the weighing of the programs, is there anyone here experienced who can offer advice on how to get the most out of my time at BU? I've found it sort of difficult to get a lot of online info, since I recognize this school isn't the most well-known in IR. How do I best take advantage of what this school has to offer, and position myself well for a job or doctoral program upon graduation? My background is in networking/career development, so I'm very familiar with the generic advice for getting ahead. I'm just wondering if there's anything specific to BU I should know about.

Thank you! I hope my question wasn't too vague. I'll be around for follow up questions/remarks.

I have the same question. How good is the MAIR program at Boston University? I know it’s not in the league of say SAIS or SIPA or even Korbel but is it worth spending all that money if you are an international student like me?
