You say you plan to live on campus if you go to BU? My kid is a BU undergrad graduate. He lived OFF campus his last two years. You might want to consider looking for an off campus place…as it will keep your living expenses down if you can find a shared space.
Same with almost any other college.
@thumper1
Great advice! Thanks alot.
From among these schools, I believe, the only one semi-targeted by IB is Notre Dame. Mendoza has on campus recruiting and a good alumni network that can help you break into the field. Even so, it isn’t going to be easy. From what I have read, one usually also needs to demonstrate pre MBA experience / interest. I would suggest at least taking the CFA Level 1 Exam in June prior to starting the MBA
CFA is an interesting designation, but its value may be limited. Worth looking into, but, if I recall correctly, there is a work experience requirement before one can be awarded the CFA designation, in addition to the tests.
Quite right, but I am not suggesting getting the CFA charter. I’m suggesting passing the first of three exams. It will help demonstrate you have serious interest in the field to alumni and recruiters.
One can’t expect alumni and recruiters to bat for a $250 to $300 k Associate position in IB for you, just on the strength of an MBA.There will be a lot of people, many from top 10 MBA Programs, gunning for these these few jobs. You will need to make yourself stand out.
The other way is to get an IB internship before you start an MBA. These are also not easy to land
college surfer, if you attended one of the top schools for Engineering and graduated with at least a 3.2, you can have a shot at IB. To demonstrate interest, get the CFA Level 1 before starting the MBA at Mendoza. Then try to lock an internship for the summer with an IB at the end of first year of MBA. Keep in mind most Domers usually end up in Chicago.
BU is a great school too. Questrom has been doing a lot of work to help place their grads into IB in NYC. However they don’t have the extensive network that Harvard and the other Ivy League schools have
@perazziman
I studied engineering abroad, graduated with a 3.1 GPA, but I don’t think I have a shot at investment banking. In your experience, what fields in finance are easier to start a career with an engineering undergrad degree?
My choice would be either Masters in Financial Engineering or marketing / data analytics
