Boston University or Vassar College

Hello, I’m trying to decide between BU and Vassar College. I’ve always wanted to be in a city for school so I’m having a hard time saying no to BU but Vassar is cheaper for me and seems to have more prestige that will put me in a better position to get into a top law school (like NYU Law).
Any input would be much appreciated!

how much cheaper?
I think if you do well at BU you will be able to get into a top law school as well. BU is no slouch.
Obviously it is a very different experience than Vassar, and you only get to go to college once. On the other hand it is likely that you will be able to experience city living for grad school or your 1st job.

Vassar is about 10-15k cheaper a year. I think I could to but I know that BU is notorious for grade deflation (or at least a lack of grade inflation) so I’m not sure if that would hurt my chances.

50K total is a lot, but not if you will truly be unhappy at Vassar and have major regrets. If that’s the case, spend the $.

Don’t know if you made a decision, but Vassar is under 2 hours from grand central station in nyc and is connected by frequent commuter trains. A lot of students go there every weekend. Plus, there’s always trips from campus going to the city, for events, conferences, internships, etc. You definitely won’t be in a big city but you’ll get to go pretty frequently. Plus, if you want to go to law school, Vassar gets its prelaw kids into the best schools out there. Columbia and NYU law are among the most frequently attended after Vassar. If you do well at VC, you are guaranteed to go to a top law school.

OP would have made a decision and hasn’t been on CC since May 1. Closing thread
