@redpoodles I wasn’t sure how binding a commitment to another school was but thank you!!
Accepted. College of Arts and Sciences. Pretty big Financial Aid package, although still not enough for it to really be an option for me.
2010 SAT
32 ACT
3.54 UW, 6.58 Weighted (300/12,243. 98 percentile, top 2% of my entire county)
9 APs by end of Senior year. On the 6th I have taken so far, got 5s, the other two were 4s.
IB classes as well.
Recs were good.
Essay was i guess fine.
ECs limited but the ones I did have I put a lot of time into (6 years of playing volleyball, 100+ hours of working as a volunteer with dog rescue and adoption groups and shelters)
I think my coursework was what got me in. I proved I can handle difficult classes and do well. Although my UW GPA is kind of low. I’m not sure how BU weights GPAs, but since I take both AP and IB classes my GPA gets very high obviously.
Accepted CAS!
GPA: 3.76 UW
ACT: 33
Better financial aid than I was expecting, so maybe an option
Hey guys! I am trying to login to the portal, but after I sign in, it loads for a moment, and then returns to login screen… Anyone else having problems? Thanks
Accepted to som but terrible aid and no scholarship. northeastern it is!
D got accepted with trustee scholarship…so happy.
International student and no hooks
@cayala3 The commitment to the other school is binding, as far as you will lose your deposit if you break it. But you can break it. Just let them know asap so another waitlisted kid wanting to go there can get in… Just wait till May 1 before you do anything. You never know!
Accepted to CAS, got about 30k in grants and aid
3.5 GPA UW
34 ACT
Excellent extracurriculars
Common App Essay: 9/10
BU Essay: 7/10
For future prospects, make sure you really show who you are in the Common App essay and make sure you let them know how much you’ve researched and want to go to their school.
Rejected. Ah well, I got accepted to Boston College. 2080 SAT, 3.9 GPA weighted, good leadership in a couple of ECs.
accepted CAS and Kilachand but 0 money which knocks it down the list quite a few spots
GPA unweighted 3.9
weighted 4.3
ACT 34 (no superscore)
6 APs with 5’s
Finalist in Fed Challenge and President of school band
I didn’t get any decision yet! I don’t know when it’s going to be released for me.
@Nickscythe You have to log into the portal. They didn’t send an email but I was able ot find out at 8!
ACCEPTED! to CGS 1780 SAT LOL 3.9 uwGPA 400 hrs of hospital service
Can someone explain this program please, I applied to CAS im trying to become a doctor
I am flummoxed. On FAFSA EFC was $19,000 --the FA offer essentially would mean they think our EFC is $53000 and so that would mean half of our annual income can go to pay college (and that is if half was before tax income paid direct to school), I know CSS Profile can have higher EFC but 300% of federal EFC? seems as if FA office Tentative package is either totally wrong, randomly generated (hope not), or is it case that FA office just offers way less to some kids and in a way its an acceptance and a rejection at once. I cannot imagine playing games with kids like that as the parents are ones who have to break childs heart saying their is problem-you got into your dream school but they forgot to say they do not come close to meeting family financial need-literally sick to my stomach and praying for a revision letter with apology or something? I don’t want to call prospective college and gripe about aid but isnt it stnadard to show the direct aid (scholarships), student loans, then show the college expected contribution fromf parents, student and show how it can all add up to pay the bill happily in fall? Got stuff like that from other colleges with my other child but never been in situation before where feel like its episode of Twilight Zone…think I am gonna be sick, truly heart broken—I will always choose my child over my own future but seems that my position is literally that now…
@llegeAcceptanc I logged in and there’s nothing new there
kind of worried
@nickscythe There’s no tab for decision above application status?

General Comments/Reflections/etc.: It’s very flattering to have gotten the Presidential scholarship. So far, I still think my top choice is UCLA at the moment though. I’ll have to mull it over and wait until the rest of the colleges come out. Which is best for pre-med? Sargent College is health-focused… Anyway, congratulations to everyone who got in!
what was your FAFSA EFC value–I am guessing now as we got almost no aid compared to actual cost of 65k a year and wondering if its like an accept and a reject at same time-like you can attend but its up to you to figure out how to pay? I thought they met need without respect to admissions qualifications (sure I get scholarships are competitive but that is separate issue)…I guess we are not only ones in this position…can you maybe elaborate-sorry I know its terrible feeling as I may have to tell my kid its non-starter as the aid is just not even in ballpark–its like a cruel joke–hoping for some reprieve from nightmare scenario–this is one I dreamt of with dread…so sad truly…hope its mistake for both of us.
Accepted to CAS with great aid! 1970 SAT, top 5% of class, great essays, and EC.
