******BOSTON UNIVERSITY RD 2019 thread*****

@Mfrias‌ I was hoping it might mean something, but you’re probably right. :frowning:

Did the BU twitter account follow anyone else?

@CurlyHairedGirl‌ yes on my old Twitter (same username) they had followed me… They don’t follow me on my new one

So I’m guessing the financial aid email isn’t anything special.

I’m guessing that also. @cmonpilgrim‌

My son got the email yesterday too. Here are his stats:
SAT 2270 (CR 780, M 770, W 720)
SAT II Biology (M) 710, Math I 740, Math II 800
GPA: 4.0 unweighted, 4.39 weighted
Solid ECs in theatre, music, and swimming - has been doing all of them for a minimum of 4 years.

I’m sure that he’ll get in. He seems very promising.

The waiting is killing us too! My husband can’t stand talking about it anymore. S has several good acceptances, but BU is his darling. We just spin in circles touring the other schools, and worrying about what our financial package will be!

Couldn’t they at least send a postcard from time to time? We are BOMBARDED by 5 other schools with email, brochures, invitations etc.

I hear you Maggpie ! Our daughter gets constant emails from schools that she has zero interest in…and they always seem to say that they are extending her deadline for application.
I don’t think any of us have big expectations for BU , but it would be nice to just know for sure so we can make travel plans and decision once and for all

Applied December 1st to CAS and Kilachand Honors College
SAT: 2190 (670 CR 800 M 720 W 10 E)
I took the SAT in January but I don’t know if they’ll accept it 2210 (740 CR 740 M 730 W 11 E)
Superscore is 2270 (740 CR 800 M 730 W 11 E)
SAT Subject Tests: 800 Physics 750 Math 2
GPA: 3.4 UW upward trend, school doesn’t weight
Unsure of class rank. Around top 30% unweighted. If school weighted, it would probably be top 15-20%
Extracurriculars are sort of good and consistent, but no major awards. Elected president of a club and other minor leadership positions.

Ahhhh, it seems like March 21 won’t ever come…

Man I’m really hoping I make even though I’m very doubtful. I applied for the School of Education but some of the stats that people put up makes me feel like I don’t have a chance.

SAT Total Score OUT OF 2400- 1500 (Super Scored already)

Critical Reading: 510, Math: 430, and Writing: 560

SAT II Subject Tests:
World History: 440, Math I: 410, Chemistry: 380

GPA: 87.12% (out of 100%)

School Rank: 30 out of 238

I know horrid!!! but I’m keeping my fingers crossed for admission. I want to become a High School history teacher in Boston.

You never know how admissions will turn out. Not all hope is lost! @Darksand99‌

@Darksand99‌ Did you also apply to UMass Boston? BU, even CGS, is a high reach if not out of reach.

Unfortunately I said no on the Common App to BU’s CGS like an idiot! I really did not know what the CGS was about at the time so I said no. I wasn’t thinking at the time. And no I did not apply to UMass I applied to BC (Boston College) :frowning:

@Darksand99‌ Unfortunately BU and BC are a little out of your range, speaking strictly from SAT’s and rank, and possibly even GPA. However, you aren’t out completely; Especially if you have super good extracurriculars and volunteer hours. BC looks at the whole person because of their Jesuit roots, so you can still get in. Don’t lose hope!

If BU and BC are the only two schools you applied to you need to consider attending community college next year as a likely alternative.

@CurlyhairedGirl Well since I want to go to BU’s School of Eduction my Extracurricular activity is working with elementary school kids after school everyday as an actual paying job. I volunteered at my job first in the summer of my sophomore year before being hired for pay. Will this be taken int consideration?

@TomSrOfBoston BU and BC are the only Massachusetts colleges I applied for, not the only two in all. I already got into 4 colleges: Michigan State University, Ohio University, Manhattan College, and the University of Dayton.

@Darksand99‌ I think that will definitely be considered, but if you don’t have at least 200 hours of volunteer work and some other extracurriculars then you won’t be given serious consideration. Academically, you are lacking, and I think that will hurt you more than the things you listed above will help you.
