******BOSTON UNIVERSITY RD 2019 thread*****

So upset I didn’t receive any financial aid, 240k over the next 4 years in loans doesn’t seem fair. Is it worth taking out loans?

@b2val8; Not that much in loans. Your parents are not willing or able to pay anything?

I’m very confused. They said that they couldn’t offer me a spot but then they wrote this

“Should you remain interested in Boston University, you may consider the possibility of transferring to BU after one or two years of strong academic work at another college or university. Each year, we enroll students through our transfer admission program, and we would welcome the opportunity to discuss this option with you.”

“we would welcome the opp. to discuss this option with you.” Are they still interested? I have a 93/94 GPA and a 2090 on the SAT?

If you do well at another school, you are welcome to apply as a transfer student. That’s all it means.

are bu grants renewable for ALL 4 years? or is be one of those schools that gives you $ the first year and then takes away everything the following years

Does this mean i pay the May 1st deposits if I’m attending until January 2016?

Is being admitted through the 2016 guaranteed transfer program essentially worse than being waitlisted? Not sure if its a good idea taking the offer…

@sctl97 i think it’s better because they only took off 69 people i think from the waitlist last year out of the 2500 that wanted to be on it. It really depends on you and i’ts not binding so.

plus you save money off your first year (because who knows if u could have gotten bad finaical aid ur first year), so like let’s say u didnt get any money and you went to your state school (which costs 28k overall) you’d save around 30k. lol

Accepted this morning into SED
Still hearing back from a few more schools but I’m so excited!

How do you know if you’re guaranteed for 2016 transfer program? Does it straight up say it? Mine (obviously a rejection) mentions that I can transfer after one or two years at another university and I can discuss it with them if i’d like. I’m guessing I wasn’t guaranteed as a transfer right?

@spldnlvr It should say this:

“We do, however, recognize your strong commitment to your studies and your many achievements in high school, as well as your potential for success at Boston University. For these reasons, you are one of a select group of students to whom we are offering guaranteed admission as a transfer student to the College of Arts & Sciences for September 2016.”

@llegeacceptanc AH okay thank you!

The guaranteed transfer thing actually works out pretty well, let’s me save some mula
