@bubbles9 I think they look more at your gpa? And they understand that some people aren’t as great at tests, if u have a solid essay and some activities u should be good!
Are we supposed to send in our mid year reports before decisions or after?
@NickScythe definitely before. Your final transcript is sent after decisions have been rendered at the end of the year. Mid year reports are used to see if the student has either sustained the same academic success, declined or increased which is used to make a decision.
Thanks!
Anyone know if BU is generous in merit scholarships and financial aid? I would love to go to this school, but only with a decent financial aid package >.<
Also, will scholarship awards come out at the same time as admission decisions?

I’m from NC, anyone know my chances?? thanks!
Do you think I still have a chance after being rejected from Northeastern?
@barca03 yes- im in the same boat!! northeastern gets harder every year and this year it was very tough
@barca03 definitely but not sure how big the chance is. I got rejected from northeastern. this year they were very sat /act based. I had a friend who had a high sat score but lower gpa than mine get deferred while I had a lower sat score (2000 :/) with a higher gpa and I got rejected. And there was also a recurring, and clear trend on college conf that if you had a 2200+, you were most likely admitted early while if you had a 2100-2200 (around that) you were either deferred or accepted. Mainly anything under that (2100 and under) was rejected or deferred. There was exceptions but it sort of looked like northeastern was following that rule…
Also, they are trying to raise their rankings (average sat scores help) so it’s no surprise that they did this tbh. if it makes you feel better, i had a friend who got deferred from northeastern but accepted into boston college and unc chapel hill both business out of state so… And UNC chapel hill is sort of hard to get in out of state… Also, to make you feel any better, they had no supplemental essay (which colleges use to determine interest and act more hollistically) which attracts more applicants. And you know, more applicants and more rejections equals smaller acceptance rate meaning higher rank.
@barca03 omg i’m so glad that we’re in the same boat too!
Did anyone receive a huge envelope in the mail recently, containing a BU booklet and a letter in it? I haven’t received anything from BU in the mail for the past couple months until today… I don’t know what it means… it 's a red booklet and on the cover it says,“We Dare You.” It’s basically about how great BU is. but my letter doesn’t say anything about my decision D; …but it says “we hope to see you on campus soon”. >< I honestly thought it was an acceptance letter because of the size of the envelope D: I’m so confused and anxious now. BU is my top choice and I feel like they’re teasing me. ><
That is just the viewbook.
My daughter got denied at Northeastern for EA. Her test scores were not that great compared to a lot of people who did ( or didn’t ) get admitted. They are trying to increase their ratings, but the numbers have not been in their favor because of the graduation rate for four years…most people take two co ops, making graduation numbers seem screwed up win compared to other similar schools.
She is waiting now for BU
@llegeacceptanc Thank you so much for your response! You gave me some hope. It’s very frustrating that they base so much on SAT scores and what you said about them trying to raise their ranking. I’m just hoping that BU isn’t doing the same, although they did have supplemental essay requirement.
My friend goes to school in the Boston area (Tufts) and she was saying that Northeastern actually had a higher yield than they were expecting last year and didn’t have enough space for students, so they became more competitive this year in order to avoid that. I’m not quite sure how true that is, but it was interesting. I was also rejected, but I think that BU mostly looks at rigor of classes and each application holistically, while Northeastern mainly focuses on objective stats such as test scores and gpa. While it is slightly discouraging to get rejected from a similar school, I think optimism is key. BU has a different admissions process and from what I’ve heard, Northeastern was especially tough this year. Good luck to everyone on here waiting
At BU there is also the CGS option.
@FGood15 From what you said, it looks like you will near definitely get in!
@cayala3 that’s a really good point. I was also rejected and my college conselor actually told me a few days ago that Northeastern was planning on being frugal with their acceptances this year as well as admitting a lot of students into the first semester study abroad program “NUin”.
@whatevercollege I received that about two weeks after I applied. That’s so annoying that they would send it around the time their decisions come out!! Good luck.
i have boston college to worry about tom, thursday, and friday. wish me luck :/… confidence levels dropping by the second… and extremely nervious
