S21 accepted with 25k presidential scholarship! He got this award for being the NMF, he listed BU as his first choice.

WL, 5/260-ish, 98 UW, no test scores (couldn’t take them), most APs or dual enrollment, respectable ECs, great essays, honors application. Very sad – her first choice. Best friend who applied only when she did with weaker app got in. Oh well, Pitt Honors here we come! (Honestly, she’s sad but apart from being twice the drive, not sure that Pitt isn’t the better choice for her.) Congrats to all who got in!!

Lol i got the transfer thing. has BU done this in the past?

I’m not sure it’s for NMF, I got it and was not a NMF

Yes D accepted in 2018 w guaranteed transfer as welll.

He didn’t send his application before Dec 1st, he sent it on Jan 1st, past the due date for consideration into scholarships. His letter said that he received this presidential scholarship for being NMF.

Does the letter actually say “guaranteed transfer?” Mine just said that I should consider the possibility of transferring to BU after spending two semesters elsewhere and that they would be welcome to helping me through their transfer admission program.

Son Just opened his letter - guaranteed transfer fall 2022. Good luck everyone! It’s decision time.

Yeah my son is business and the St. Andrews management degree translates well to the US if he wants to work in the US. He may fall in love with Europe and stay there

Yes and it has a tab at the top that says next steps

DS accepted with Presidential Scholarship.

D was WL at BU and Northeastern. 3.9 UW GPA/4.2 W, 1530 SAT, APs and college credits, rank 10/128, strong essays. Very disappointed for her. She has other good options including UC Irvine bio-medical engineering/pre-med which is difficult to get into for OOS but living in Northeast it’s so far away. Her best friend also waitlisted with similar stats, 4/128 class rank. Congrats to those who were accepted

Read the conditions of the guarantee. You are to take courses equivalent to what a BU freshman takes. You will graduate in 4 years if you select courses correctly.

You have a really good chance for Tulane and I think that’s a very underrated excellent school. My older son, who goes to Wake Forest, got into Tulane. They ARE very BIG into the optional “why Tulane?” Essay as they’re huge into showed interest. If you wrote a really good essay you’ll have a good chance. Students who bypassed the why Tulane essay, even with outstanding stats are invariably rejected

As for Harvard, looks like the RD acceptance rate with be around 3% which is crazy low

All the top tier and near top tier colleges got a record amount off applicants this year. This plus the high amount of students who took gap years in 20/21 made it ridiculously hard on you guys. Don’t blame yourself, the system is broken a little bit right now

Accepted CAS - 34 ACT, 3.9/4.56 GPA, solid ECs, initially applied to SMED but transferred to regular admission

How does a student with high stats communicate to a school that they are not using it as a safety? In a similar boat here, have demonstrated interest, been on several virtual sessions, etc, but she’s waitlisted at several of these schools. I also think that there’s something to do with schools becoming more need aware vs need blind.

Where do we find out if we have been accepted to honors college? Is it in the letter?
