Boston University Regular Decision 2025: Discussion & Decisions

Can someone send me a picture of their rejection letter? I am so confused if I was given guaranteed transfer or not.

Similar boat here. High stats and GPA, accepted into Honors programs at higher ranked schools, but we need the merit to make it work. BU was one of our top choices. Such a challenging year.

BU is need aware. At this point a LOCI is about all that can be done. And the LOCI should not mention that the student is accepted at “higher ranked schools”.

Hi TomSrOfBoston - My daughter is in a similar boat to many others. She was not using Boston university or Northeastern as a safety. Waitlisted at Northeastern and guaranteed transfer to Boston. My questions for you are… When do you have to agree to the guaranteed transfer? A.k.a., do you have to say yes now and you are definitely transferring or can you wait to see how you’re freshman year goes? I don’t currently have access to the letter or terms. Additionally, will northeastern take a LOCI from those waitlisted? Thank you!

hi can you plz share a pic of your decision letter, i’m super confused. thanks

Hello everyone - just had a question regarding scholarships. If I have received a NMF scholarship from another school, am I allowed to change my first choice to BU to get the Presidential scholarship or is this not allowed?

The Presidential scholarship is totally different from the NMF scholarship. They do not stack.

Anyone in the fields of journalism or other communication arts knows that Newhouse is one of the best, and that easily overcomes the university prestige angle. There are many opportunities for internships and jobs from Newhouse despite it’s relative remote location. It is a powerhouse in its field. My son went to Syracuse, but his GF graduated from Newhouse. She had a lot of internships, and is now working as a reporter in LA. Plus, if you were competitive for BU, it probably means you got some merit from Cuse, which would make it all the more compelling. Plus, if you hate it, you have the guaranteed transfer, seems like you are in a good position. Best of luck.

My mistake, is it possible to attain the NMF scholarship if I change my first choice school now?

Don’t know if NMF organization will allow you to change. Contact them.

You could always go to Syracuse year one and think about that automatic option to transfer to BU sophomore year. BU is viewed as a more prestigious school in the Business world, etc BUT there’s absolutely nothing wrong with Syracuse. It’s a fine school. The city of Syracuse doesn’t compare to Boston though

My financial aid award was soo poor based on my EFC, does anyone know why or if I can appeal it?

You can appeal financial aid but the FAFSA EFC is irrelevant at BU. How does your award compare to the BU NPC amount?

It’s way off like $10k per year more:grimacing::grimacing:

Plus on their website they said it’s 100% need met based on EFC and stated the award would be “BU price - EFC”

Our Kilichand Acceptance is out with this decision. It’s on the portal.

Check your letter for this language: you’re being offered “guaranteed admission as a transfer student for September 2022.” If you have the guaranteed transfer option you will see a FAQ button in the portal underneath the View Decision and Next Steps button. The FAQ button also appears right under the letter. Click on the FAQ button and it’s all about the guaranteed transfer.

Mine says “ Should you remain interested in Boston University, you may consider the possibility of transferring to BU after two semesters of strong academic work at another accredited college or university. Each year, we enroll students through our transfer admission program, and we would welcome the opportunity to discuss this option with you.”

Sounds like they are inviting you to apply as a transfer but not as a guaranteed transfer.
